Reviving a 1995 Power Computing Mac clone

When I left it in my grandfather's basement in 1999, it worked fine. It's as dead as a door nail now. Will any kind of tapping or banging get it to start up? Anything simple?

Or is destined for the dumpster? Was hoping to find some old memories.

PRAM battery is likely drained dry.

You into electronics repairs? Can you open it up and check the power supply? Or open it up and take pictures? Also, more than likely there is a battery dead for the bios on the motherboard.

If you just want to see what is on the hard drive, you might be able to remove it and plug it into another newer computer.

Macs don't use BIOS.

PowerPC based boxes used Open Firmware.

If you don't get it running, I can see if one of my old macs still works, and try to read your drive.

Check the motherboard for a watch type battery and replace it. Get out the multimeter and see if you're getting voltage from the power supply.

Thanks Scott, I'm pretty sure that's it. I remember it died when I was using it years ago and it just needed a new battery. It was something like a .5 inch thick 1 inch high cylinder if IIRC.

Will see about it tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!
