I know... I know... you have been on the edge of your seats:
So the winner is..... BOTH!!!!! I bought a new set of blizzacks for my wife's endeavor, and a set of studded general arcticmax studded for my volvo. Hers are 235 65 17, mine are 215 65 16. In the middle is a set of 16 inch 1/3 used blizzacks for my volvo. The difference between the tires is interesting. The New blizzacks are softer than the Generals and have the sniping? (small cuts) in closer intervals than the general tires. Does it make a real world difference? Who knows. It's 65 degrees outside. I drove home from getting her blizzaks mounted with the A/C on it was so hot! At least I enjoyed the "industrial smell" of the new tires in the car driving to work today! Oh well for the warm weather! Somebody do a snow dance! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1450915429.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1450915475.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1450915514.jpg |
The sipes and the compound will make those tires perform impressively, if you ever get snow.
The winters I ran Michelin Arctic Alpins on my '93 Turbo diesel Passat, I found I was passing snow plows from time to time. Amazing tires. Best Les |
Just put 4 new Firestone winter force studded tires on my wife's Passat. It's 45 * and raining........they work good in the mud.

In canada (where we get lots of winter) studded tires are illegal (many provinces)
