Chebby Motor ID Please

I'm selling the corp's 2009 Silverado. We got in in partial trade for some work and I wasn't in on the deal, so I didn't know what they were getting. I haven't paid a lot of attention to it other than making sure it got maintained on a decent schedule. I need to describe it in the ads but I don't know zip about Chebby motors. Can anyone ID this engine for me, or tell me what to look for so I can ID it myself?

The engine info should be on a sticker on the radiator shroud.

There is nothing there but a generic sticker that describes the AC system, air bag system, etc. It lists a bunch of engines, including diesel, but it doesn't say which one this truck has.

5.3 or6.0

My first thought when I have a question is to come here. I should at least try Google first. Sorry.

I figured it out, but it wasn't easy. The 8th character in the VIN is a code for the engine. I couldn't find my code. Turns out the first three characters on the VIN plate aren't part of the VIN, they indicate which VIN standard is being used. (1GC = international VIN standard, so they say). M eighth character was a Z = iron block 5.3 FFV.

Thanks for the replies.

Glad you found the info.

I was confident that GM put that on a sticker in the engine compartment so I went out and looked at my Suquinox. It's there{4.3 liter} but the sticker is on the hood and covered by the bug guard mounting location.

Details? I'm looking for a long bed, extended cab, ideally a 2500.

Yes I agree with Fred. Unless the emissions sticker has been removed or damaged it should indicate what displacement it is. Obviously the 6.0 is more desirable but either way, very good engines.

1/2 ton is most likely a 5.3, but could be a 4.8.
3/4 ton is going to be a 6.0.

It's a 6.5 foot bed, extended cab, 1500. As noted above 5.3 Flex Fuel engine, 63,000 miles. In the 5 years we've had it it's only been used for long road trips carrying 700-900 lbs. We didn't drive it in snow. It's pretty clean inside and out and I made sure it was serviced regularly. The only real work we've had done on it was to have the driveshaft extension into the transmission lubed to get rid of a squeak when you stopped.
I'm still pricing it out.

I've got the 5.3 in both trucks.

Great motor.
