Without involving a river or large body of water, how do you manage to screw something up that bad? I see no signs of fire and it doesn't look like it was submerged. It's in LA and I can't imagine that someone would transport that thing all the way from the rust belt.

I'm just at a loss to try and explain it. It has to involve water somehow, but I'm used to seeing things like the instrument cluster rusting and having a lot of buildup on the inside of the glass. These look too clean for that.

Looks to me like it had been wrecked and then sat outside open to the elements for 20-30 years, maybe at a junk yard, on someone's property waiting for that "restoration" that never came, or at the bottom of a gorge off of the side of Mulholland.

Sounds plausible. What really confuses me is all the rust in areas that should not have ever been exposed to ice or salt, and that even on cars that sat outdoors abandoned for 50+ years are not rusted out. Like the left side of the dash - I've never seen that completely rot through.

I keep looking for signs of a major accident while in motion and just can't find much. My guess is that it rolled down a hill, then maybe sat tarped in an area where lots of condensation built up underneath or was leaky enough for lots of water to seep in but still too solid for it to not be able to evaporate?

Maybe but the guy tends not to lowball and pays cash, as in money wired to your account within hours. No hassle on paperwork etc...

He bought a 57' 220 Coupe from my brother last week. Paid fair asking price without blinking.

He could be? We don't know. :p

The price is absurdly high. I happen to know the the 912 below sold for a more realistic $300.
