long ago mid 80's before the run up in value
there was a P-3/4 running around coconutt grove real car not a kit or re-pro I try to follow it not in a honda but in a chevy with a 350 got right behind him at the main traffic light but he just flew away down main highway but that was not the most valuable car I have seen on a normal street I saw a Bugatti royal being used to go out to eat in 1974 in the super sub shop parking lot on sw 8 st owned by Henry N a local collector/flipper |

Other times, not so much.

I think 365 GTBs are sublimely beautiful. Great proportions make a car, but the surface development of the body, particularly in the rear quarter, is outstanding and is worth a long, long, look. I have seen these at concours but not on the road. A couple of months ago I drove my car to Road America to watch vintage racing, and near the track a 275 GTB passed me going the other way. First time I've been passed by a $2m+ USD car on the road.

I like the GTS better, but I a partial to drop tops.

I used to live in that area and my family is from there. My parents and grand parents both had houses in that Southside area and I had a place in the Riverside area before I moved west...
There used to be a nice red Jaguar E-Type roaming around that area. I never tracked it down but saw it often enough on San Jose blvd. |
I'm not at all surprised you saw the Daytona in Jacksonville. Amelia Island is a suburb of Jacksonville…and home to probably the second most prestigious car show in the world (after Pebble beach). There's a LOT of money there.

I saw one of the street legal original Ford GT40,s about 45 years ago. I worked for a guy who was a former Ford vp . I also had a ride in the second 930 sold in Canada back in 1975 or 76. Both iconic cars being driven like they should be.

last year the FOC had a nice drive/private museum tour of the Norton-Simon/catered lunch at one of the houses of the officer's in Los Feliz. Absolutely bonkers money there. the house was located on 7 tiered lots in Los Feliz. Here are some pics....the owner of the house had his yellow Daytona. My neighbor (when I lived in Granada Hills) is the National President for FOC...he's in one of the photos below. he sold his Daytona in the early 2000's to buy a 550 Maranello. When I asked him if he regretted it....he said "absolutely not. I never wanted to drive the Daytona. The 550 gets a workout. Don't care about the money..."
