THE REVENANT... I'm really looking forward to this one!

Just WOW... And apparently no CGI in the making of this movie. Old school stunts only.

Any outdoors type person should love this. It look truly scary and they way they dispatch Leonardo's character and his son looks diabolical.
The shorts remind me of the old Charles Bronson's revenge movies. I wasn't a big fan of those but at the time they were always disturbing.

I'm really looking forward to this one!

I had to look up revenant. Never had heard the term before.

No CGI ?
Bear attack is real?
Riding a horse off a cliff is real?

sand_man 12-01-2015 04:51 AM

My son and I have been anxiously awaiting this one!!! The cinematography looks breathtaking!!!

sand_man 12-01-2015 04:53 AM

Looks to be a fantastic revenge story (albeit based/inspired by true events)!

Supossedly all filmed here in Alberta, I've already seen one of the mountains I've climbed. Looking forward to it.

We'll at least there is some beautiful country / scenery in it.

Cheers Richard

OK, based on a true store about a revenant which is a visible ghost or animated corpse that was believed to return from the grave to terrorize the living. Yea, right. And Star Wars is a documentary.

It might be a cool movie but it ain't based on reality.

sand_man 12-01-2015 06:58 AM

I gather from the storyline, that Leo is not quite dead when Hardy puts him in the grave, so not exactly a "ghost" when he returns, but might as well be, to the guy who left him for dead.

Based on the story of American frontiersman Hugh Glass.

We saw the previews for it when we were at the movies last. It looks like a good movie. I will see for sure. It does just say "Inspired" by true events, and then they let the writers imagination run lose. Likely as accurate as every TV show with a computer expert or cops that can outrun machine gun fire and bulletproof car doors.

Just check your sense of reality at the door and enjoy a story.

Hugh Glass was one tough sonofabich.

Glass set his own leg, wrapped himself in the bear hide his companions had placed over him as a shroud, and began crawling. To prevent gangrene, Glass laid his wounded back on a rotting log and let maggots eat the dead flesh.

Glass crawled overland south toward the Cheyenne River using Thunder Butte as a navigational tool, where he fashioned a crude raft and floated downstream to Fort Kiowa. The journey took him six weeks. He survived mostly on wild berries and roots; on one occasion he was able to drive two wolves from a downed bison calf, and feast on the meat. Glass was aided by friendly Native Americans who sewed a bear hide to his back to cover the exposed wounds and provided him with food and weapons.

If I read the article correctly, Leonardo deCaprio is raped by a bear in the movie. That's going to leave a mark.

big dicaprio fan, that trailer really got my attention when we saw it in the movies.

flipper35 12-01-2015 08:44 AM

I don't think I have seen a movie with Leo in it.

berettafan 12-01-2015 09:06 AM

flip you're missing out!

gangs of new York is epic.

the departed is absolutely fantastic.

Wasn't this already made sometime in the 70s with Richard Harris in the Leo part? There was a captain in a beaver top hat and they were towing a large boat overland to get to some lake/river. I know I saw this--he eats a crayfish raw and steals fresh buffalo meat from some wolves.

This version looks pretty good as well.

Also, the Wolf of Wall Street was one of his best.
