Well ok now, I have a lot of respect for these people but I think they might be a little light in the numbers, just not enough manpower.

I disagree.

We are not fighting a conventional foe.

These troops are a completely different breed all together!

Think asymmetrical warfare.

No thinking "outside the box" - because there is no box.

I hope the pentagon does not tie their hands with that rules of engagement BS.

Chocaholic 12-04-2015 05:29 PM

Well, by all means, lets give them plenty of forewarning that our top secret elite soldiers are on their way.

If we are reading about it in Maxim, it happened months ago.

Or it's not even true.

I hear ya Mike but look at it this way:

It's like telling your opponent in football you are going to run the triple option.

They know it's coming.....but there's nothing they can do to stop it...lol....

:D

I vote B. If it was A, it didn't work.

You watch too many movies, Baz.

There is no better way to put it, unfortunately.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-05-2015 02:35 AM

There are articles in maxim?

Baz 12-05-2015 03:44 AM

They are called the "Joint Special Operations Command" - or Special Ops as we have always known them as.

Quote:

It was under JSOC that SEAL Team 6 executed the mission that took out Osama Bin Ladin. And it was under JSOC that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed. Those random stories of American commandos storming compounds in Somalia or snatching men off the streets of Libya that occasionally pop up in the news? That's JSOC.

Quote:

JSOC is only phase one. But until the cavalry arrives, chances are we'll begin seeing key members of the ISIS hierarchy vanish off the map very soon. Or at least that's the hope.
Quote:

“You don’t know at night who’s going to be coming in the window. And that’s the sensation that we want all of [ISIS’s] leadership and followers to have.”

I've never understood why this stuff is made public. Do you think the Russians make a press release about their covert ops? Their enemies just quietly disappear.

jyl 12-05-2015 06:02 AM

I'm happy to see this.

On the other hand, we can already kill any ISIS commander (or any other person) whom we can locate in the open, in a vehicle, or in a house or normal building, via drone-fired missile. And we can already destroy any facility, building, or target, via airstrike or cruise missile.

So I don't think that greater use of Special Forces is going to be game changing, at least not in the ways described in the quotes from the article. And I worry that if the world sees a video of a Navy SEAL beheaded by ISIS, and if we have a weak President at the time, we'll see another 100,000 US soldiers headed to the Middle East.

Por_sha911 12-05-2015 06:23 AM

Special forces enables us to do 2 things:
-Avoid collateral damage when the chicken sh_t terrorist hide in places with innocent civilians.
-Search for intel and data when the shooting stops.

ckelly78z 12-05-2015 06:26 AM

And exactly where are they sending these fine soldiers, because I didn't know ISIS had a home base or country. It seems to me that there are sleeper cells all over the world that no one seems to suspect that thier neighbors are part of ?

livi 12-05-2015 06:39 AM

When you are done in ME we would happily borrow your boys here in Sweden for a stint in our larger city suburbs.

RANDY P 12-05-2015 07:11 AM

Election time coming up - can't appear weak on national security.
