Is 3/4 gallon of paint enough to cover a standard cab pickup ?
I bought a rickety old 4x4 dump truck. It only has 53000 miles, but it is a little ugly . I was just going to dip it, but but I could use this as a good opportunity to sharpen up my painting chops a little
I have 3/4 gallon of nice gunmetal grey urethane enamel left over from another project some time ago. It is single stage. I am not doing the bed, just the cab. Pretty sure it will cover, but just want to be sure. Thanks Pics just for reference . She is an ugly old girl huh? ![]()

It should work, but you'll have better luck if you clean it up and shoot a sealing primer first.

Fred - if you use a matching urethane primer that is not filler / thick surfacer cover - you should be OK. Just be prudent with what you have, maybe just a little extra reducer to make sure you stretch it. While primer / surfacer's have there use - they do 'soak' up the paint.

I'm making some headway, I got it all painted up this summer. I did 100% of the body work in my back yard, outdoors by my shed, with a small crappy compressor, and minimal tools. ( Working at the shop feels like work, working at home is fun)
I sprayed it in my shop, though to keep bugs out and leaves out of the paint . Turned out pretty good for a quick and dirty job. I still have to patch up the bed, and paint that all up, but that project will just get nibbled at over the winter, I weld in a plate here, and there when I feel like it. ![]() Got the plow working over the last few weeks, and I am ready for some snow !!!!

Nice work
I keep looking at either a small dump trailer or bigger pickup and always run into similar setups. That thing would be so useful. |

Super useful , I cant even imagine life without it . I sold my last dump 2 years ago, and really regretted it. Its only down fall, was that it was 2 wd, and did not make for a good plow rig.
