Does this carburetor float look original to you ?

1965 Gto, This is the center carb of a tri power set up . It is a rochester 2 bbl, looks like every other one I have ever torn apart , although it has been a while .
Looks like some sort of sealant on the seam of the float, it is peeling off, and I found some laying in front of the one jet .
I only remember seeing silver solder on the seams of a carb float .
I think the real underlying problem is that it needs this carb cleaned out, fresh gas, new plugs , and another good run.

I've never been good with carbs. I take 'em apart, blast the dickens out of everything with Carb cleaner, and put 'em back together with new gaskets. Most of the time that does the trick.

Of course I'm talking about 2 cycle carbs.

For the smaller Honda powered equipment I have (trenchers, etc.) I just buy a whole new carb on eBay ($15.00) instead of screwing around.

Can't say I recall seeing that on any carb float.
Is the band metallic?
Our '59 Pontiac wagon w/tri-power had the same carb setup, but I seem to remember the floats looking like they were just soldered together at the seam. If that ribbon is metallic it may have been someone's attempt at soldering the halves back together.

Definitely test the float before re-installing. Hopefully not a leaker.

There is no fuel in the float that I can make out, I will weigh it tomorrow, there is also a little dab on the bottom. Really looks like someones attempt at a repair. This center carb was acting funny, car would occasionally run perfect, then starve for fuel, once on the outer carbs, it runs 100 %.
Im having no luck finding a replacement as of yet, I may have to glue er back up , but I'd hate to .
I'll keep searching

Do the bodies look like... aftermarket or OEM? Are the fuel valves the same? Same goes for the power valves--? Are you first tuning with just the center carb, outers off w/block plate?

Ames has just about everything. It sometimes seemed I was personally keeping them in business during the couple of years I spent restoring my `70.
