That thing is in pretty nice shape.

I always thought VW stood out from everyone else with unusual but unique and practical vehicles. Not so anymore.

Practical? More like selling you the same old Nazi invented **** for 50 years with no innovation. May be "cool" here in the US with the surfer crowd, but try working construction and driving that thing during (real) winter. (I have BTDT). I have no respect for VW bugs or transporters. You can keep them.

My DOKA has been very practical and reliable as a worker vehicle for 9 years now. I don't have real winters here, but the previous owner did in northern Sweden for 17 years. And it does just fine on ski trips to Tahoe. A friend has one just like mine, and he uses it daily as a work vehicle, as an autoglass guy. The side gates are very handy. As I recall, Porsches are essentially Nazi invented ****, too.

Of course the Nazi comment was tongue in cheek, but that's really how old some of this stuff was. I remember when the 'new' VW came out. It was the same car. Maybe 200 cc more displacement and a different taillight ... not impressed by that. Porsche at least was pushing the cars to be more. But of course, look who is talking. 1997 993 - air cooled with a twin - belt driven distributor and 12 long spark plug wires ...

My first official work truck for my business was a 74 vanagon. It worked well for hauling parts and stuff, and I even used to push, or tow broken vehicles around the lot with it.
It made for a lousy tow vehicle
The prices on these things are nuts now.
I think I bought mine for $300.00 in nice shape with a bad motor. Bought a really good running 2.0 from a 914 for $150.00 and I was off the the races . Ahh the good old days

I know the guy who is offering that VW for sale. He is situated virtually around the corner from here.

He is honest and very knowledgeable. I've had him do some work on my 911, because he has many years of experience in old Porsche restoration, but now he has branched out into a broad variety of interesting vehicles, with an emphasis on interesting. He imports cars from all over the world, and does everything necessary to make them top shape.

If anyone on this forum wants me to go over there to have a look at this vehicle, and ask more questions, I'll be happy to do so.

No Affiliation.
