Who does these? 80% of the wrenchers here are retirees. These are "Just because" projects. Good for them!

There's a local guy in my area that did a 8N and shows it regularly at the Berryville, Va. steam and gas engine show (think farm tractor nationals). So nicely done, you almost didn't notice it initially. Makes you wonder why the Ford didn't do it first.

The V-8s were gas hogs and they tore up ring and pinions. The ring and pinion was out of a 1 1/2 ton truck, but it couldn't handle the constant torque. The flathead six was a better choice. It used less gas, but didn't help the problem of overloading the R&P. |
