Bought myself a little Christmas present

I'm curious to see what the watch lovers on this forum think of this. It's the first watch I've bought in about 10 years and haven't worn one for 8 years or so. I used to love watches and I'm getting back into it now. It is by far the most expensive watch I have ever bought, more than all the other watches I have ever owned combined, heck I've never spent more than $100 on a watch in my life.

Since I do a bit of travel for work, the GPS aspect will be nice.

Loving it so far. Oh and it also comes with a black alligator leather band as well. Number 3165 of 5000.

I do like those Shinola watches. Very classic designs.

But I have tastes that are too expensive for my own good. I would love to have this, but I know it will never happen.

Congrats. It is good to get yourself something nice every now and then. For the same money I got a 450 KTM - a little early in fall. To me the watch would be too busy - I can't see all that small stuff anymore anyway!

Happy Holidays!

I wear a watch all the time. I find them to be quite useful

Good for you that you can allow yourself something nice.

Watches are a weakness for me also.....

That is a great looking Seiko!

Hilarious (or maybe not) side note: My less than two-year-old Tag Aqua Racer had begun hanging up at 11:40 on every pass, so I took it in to the shop I've used for years here locally--a shop run by an elderly gentleman and his younger son.

His son asked me "if I had gotten it wet?" and I rather quickly replied that I had in fact not only gotten it wet, but had used it appropriately as a dive watch on many occasions--I mean, it's an Aqua Racer after all.....

He said that even still---they're just not designed to handle such a large amount of moisture because there are so FEW parts inside, and the condensation from temperature changes, etc. would gum up the works eventually. A quick cleaning and a lubricated seal and I was out the door.

I'm still amazed by his statement however..

That's right. It uses satellites to triangulate your position solely to see what time zone you are in and adjusts the time accordingly. It's never going to give you turn-by-turn directions. It also gets the current time from the atomic clock on a satellite, like the radio controlled watches do. It is pretty much a set and forget watch.
