I was truly concerned...
...until I clicked on the thread. I've been chuckling with relief and a little envy too. Glad to know you're working through your illness in a thorough way.

Well I am not getting any better! Just picked this 84' Euro 280CE off of Craig's list. Has been stored in a heated warehouse for the past 25 years! Has the covenanted 5 speed transmission and SLS rear suspension. Only 72k miles on it, and the paint is all original and should polish up quite nicely. Interior is in great shape, just have to loose the sheep skins. The seats are perfect underneath them. Will need some TLC to be up to running like it should, then I have to decide on which other car I have to sell if we keep this one.

Got it home yesterday and had time to give it a bath, both top and bottom. Now to pull the gas tank and flush it and see if the motor will turn.

Well the motor is seized, and I can see rust down three cyl, when I pulled the spark plugs, and there was water in the oil when I drained it. So my guess is a bad head gasket was the reason it was parked. Cost of rebuilding this motor and fuel system would be about $5-7k, so out with the old and in with the diesel motor from the 81' parts wagon. Since I have all the parts needed to convert it over to diesel this should cost me less than $2k to completely restore!

Car is done, diesel went in with no issues. Picked up these rims for the coupe today. BBS RZ 7 1/2 X16 will put 225/50R16s on them this week.

I'm green with envy.

I had been loving on that wagon you cleaned up so nicely.
But that coupe blows it away. I like those BBS wheels, but maybe not for this car. The ones on it add to the classy understated soghisticated look. But that may just be me. You are on a roll Von, with your finds. Cheers Richard |
Wow, some really cool cars that you've found and saved and salvaged.
|
Not a sickness.
You are my hero . |
Here are three if the Mercedes we have, I was too lazy to line up the three Unimogs.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499876119.JPG

That coupe in the middle is a definite keeper, though the wagon is nice, now that you have the stance right.
