I converted to parabolics about 30 years ago, picking a pair of Salomon XScream Series after trying four types of skis.

About 10 years ago, I got a pair of Atomic Metron 11 All Mountain skis, which are excellent both in crud and for high speed GS turns on packed powder.

You basically have to keep trying different skis until you find one that works for you, which will depend on your skill level, weight, preferred turn radius, and type of snow you ski on. It is an easier process if you go to a specialty ski shop that has high quality skis and experienced sales people.

I would suggest a private lesson to make sure your technique is appropriate for the dynamics of the new skis. Some people get on to them right away; others take longer.

I haven't canvassed all of the lines lately, but most of the manufacturers still make skis that are suitable for high speed GS type turns on hardpack.

Good luck!
