Yes they are, John. They were the driving force behind moly coated bullets, teflon coated bullets, and untold new profiles. All of the modern "short magnum" cases owe their stubby shapes to the benchrest game. The really sharp (like 40 degree) shoulders started there as well. Nothing like dimpled golf balls, though... at least not yet...

Oh, and Vash, the .257 was Roy's personal favorite.

Pretty much everything I know about guns I've learnt from this board

Living in England doesn't give me a chance to try anything more than a double barrel shot gun but I love seeing what people on here have tucked away in their toy box

Reading the opening post reminded me a bit of driving a 356 to a PCA event and the responses of the water pumper/pepper van crowd.

Interesting thread. I'm no stranger to guns, but not a serious gun guy. Would be if I could, but I have too many other hobbies already. Learned a bit by reading this. Thanks.
