so i grimaced and asked for a transfer..i got it FAST.

my new office is full of abalone diver types, so the transition should be okay. the beer and wine are amazing. and i see a SEA Kayak in my future. hehe..time to full native when i get there.

another important part of the equation: neighbours. the corner lot lessens the exposure, somewhat.

I'd rather pick a house in the middle with decent neighbors than have 1/2 my neighbors be road. Corner homes always have a lot of useless "front" yard that you can show off if you are into landscaping ...

Just my two cents. I do agree on the neighbors. My first look when looking at the lot is over the fences. A yard full of junk next door? -> pass.

You say that like there's something wrong with this place? I chose to move to Gilbert 2 years ago and love it!

Growing up in the country I never gave much thought to neighbors, as they were at least a quarter mile away! But out here I hear stories and  We have really great neighbors though. Worst one just has loud dogs. The house next to us is selling right now and we are all nervous. Our block has 6 houses and we all get along great. Drink beer and play darts together, I can leave my garage door open all day and nothing gets messed with, neighbors all loan each other tools and help when needed. When we talked about moving, our great neighbors were one thing we discussed not wanting to lose!
