Finally... .22lr at Wallyworld!

I knew the hoarding/scarcity was ending when I saw shelves full at a new Field & Stream store some months back but still at over .10 per round :(. So earlier today I happened to be in Wallyworld, cruised by the ammo case and there they were....still pricey, but they had a bunch of 'em :D. Still not buying yet as the price will continue to drop IMO....

varmint 01-12-2016 12:23 PM

will check today after work. my hoard is getting low, even if it is overpriced.

red-beard 01-12-2016 12:50 PM

How much at Wally World?

KFC911 01-12-2016 12:59 PM

Still not reasonable James.... 8.50 or so for a hundred (in the plastic boxes). When I see 'em in the bulk 500 boxes...I'll start back buyin' ;)

Didn't count, but they had a bunch...

Federal Auto Match for less than $0.06/round, here.

red-beard 01-12-2016 01:03 PM

Sounds like it is time to dust off the .22 ;)

During this "shortage", I picked up 1500 rnds, . It wasn't tough. .....not much CCI tho. None of my preferred stuff.

Was that $8.50/100?
That's not a good price?

ckelly78z 01-12-2016 01:59 PM

The only place I found for the last year that had any was rural king in the tiny 50 round boxes for $10 a piece......not.

varmint 01-12-2016 02:02 PM

Might as well keep shooting my 30-06 at that price.

Not to me...Still probably 3X what they should be. I haven't bought any in years, and though prices will NEVER return to the CCIs etc. that I have stocked away, I'm still not using up my stash....yet SmileWavy

Been cheerfully paying 10-12c/rnd delivered for low end match ammo for the past 18 months. More often a matter of affordign 2 bricks at any given moment than it has been finding it for sale. SK Std+, Norma Tac-22, Geco, etc.

Well, I'm not buying at $0.085/rd. But I'll start shooting some of my older stash. I won't go into the match stuff, ever. For me to start buying again, the price needs to get to $25 for 500. I'm not happy at that price, but I doubt it will ever go below $20 for 500. $15-20 for 500 is really about right, with the new special shipping requirements for both the ammo and the materials.

Someone is making a LOT of money!

I picked up two buckets earlier in 2015 at WallyWorld. 5.5cents/round.

I'd rather have fairly good 22lr (like CCI) be readily available for 8.5 or 10 cents a round than some low quality 5 c/r ammo be available once in a blue moon. I still have a 1000 brick of 2013 Winchester M22 that so far I haven't had dip into.

Anything wrong with Remington Golden? I've shot thousands of them and never had an issue.

Other than being particularly dirty it's ok. I just finished a 525 box of it on Sunday that Remington sent me as a promo in late 2014. Both my buckmark and marlin definitely prefer mini mag though. Since then the only place I've seen Remington golden actually in stock is CDNN at 10 cents per round. I'm just saying I'd be fine paying 10 cents per round if it was (a) usually locally in stock and (b) better than the cheapo brick stuff.

Red88Carrera 01-12-2016 06:36 PM

I can deal with dirty. I can't deal with FTF, or FTE. Golden has never been either.

I think we're on the same page here? At 5.5 cents per round it's a great deal. Twice that? no way.

IMO, the folks in the biz have played the public all the way to the proverbial bank. Hoarders haven't helped either...nothing wrong with everyone having an adequate supply, but it's all in the timing...I simply don't buy during the "crazy periods"...YMMV.

I'll buy when it approaches .5/round...and even then "they" are making a tidy profit IMO.
