Rams to relocate to L.A.
I never liked it when the Colts left for Indianapolis.
Nice to see tradition return at least to this franchise. http://memberfiles.freewebs.com/84/5...d/fearsumx.jpg |
My dad took me to my first pro football game to watch the Rams and Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch play at the Coliseum. I'll never forget that first pro game, and I've been a Rams fan ever since.
Thanks for the photo, Baz. The Rams' Fearsome Foursome--I remember them well. Is that a scan of your personal photo? |
What city will the jags use to threaten to move to now?
|
Not long before he died my dad was still bemoaning their move from Cleveland.
|
As a Niner fan, it will be nice to the have the LA Rams to hate again.
|
I wonder if the Chargers will end up staying put and working out a new stadium deal in SD. I would think having to share a stadium with the Rams would kind of suck.
|
Still kinda pissy here about the Ravens moving from Cleveland, hopefully, the Browns can turn it around with the new coach (8th coach in 15 years).
|
So the SCRAMS are going back to LA.

I'm pretty cynical about pro sports. They say it's a business, but its run more like a welfare scam. |
So happy about this! Have to admit I thought all three teams were just scamming to get their home towns to build them new stadiums.
I like the Chargers but love San Diego and I know how much SD loves their team so I hope they don't move. I have no idea why anyone would spend a penny to move the Raiders here... the suck with tremendous velocity... Bummed the new stadium is going to Ingelwood and not Carson... not that it matters that much to me... I don't attend games (too lazy, prefer the comfort on my couch). I'm good with having just one team, but as they say... money talks and whatever will make the most $$$ for the owners and the NFL will happen. On a side note I presume they will play at the coliseum until the new stadium is built? |

However, like you, I attended my first pro football game at the LA Coliseum with my Dad in 1965. The Rams were playing the 49'ers, who won big that day. I can remember walking through the dark tunnel and emerging into the bright stadium like it was yesterday. Great memory. |
Didn't the Rams just leave L.A.? How time flies.
|
Evidently I'm the only one in so Cal who didn't want an NFL team to move here.
The rams sucked when they were here, as did the gang members (raiders). Chargers have always sucked. Why should I get stuck watching a local sucky team on TV every weekend instead of watching good teams from other areas? You can bet the farm that I'll never plop down a $600 or more to take the family to actually watch another pro football game live ..... |
I hope the Raiders move to San Antonio and take on the name "Banditos"

Back in the USFL days there were the San Antonio Gunslingers.! Conventional wisdom says that San Antonio doesn't have a snowball's chance in ell to get an NFL team as Jerry Jones (and McNair) would absolutely veto the idea. No way will they allow three NFL teams in TX. |

he considers SA to be Cowboy territory.. and it seems that J. Jones has a lot of influence in NFL owners circles. and I doubt McNair would like to see one in SA. From an article in the SA Express News: "Billionaire NFL owners wishing to get their way have long used San Antonio as a potential threat. When a team's city is reluctant to subsidize a new stadium, San Antonio typically arises as a potential relocation destination, forcing the hands of local government officials and taxpayers. But if San Antonio turns into a legitimate possibility for Davis and the Raiders, at least one owner will look to fight against the arrival of another pro football team in Texas. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who sent a one-page letter to commissioner Roger Goodell saying that he supports the Chargers and Rams sharing the Inglewood stadium, could try to block the Raiders from coming to Texas. The winning bid will need to be approved by 24 of the 32 owners at this week's owners meeting. " |

Good riddance to them. Go Chiefs!

I took the kids to a Ravens game and a Redskins game when they were young. What a roast. Awful experience, both times. Many of the Ravens fans drank more than I thought humanly possible...we were in the Sherpa Guide seats and left by half time. Unless I have grand kids old enough to go before they take my car keys away, I don't plan on attending another pro football game. |

Red McCombs is the only person with connections to SA that could bring a team there. McCombs has said that J. Jones vetoed the move of another team to SA (can't remember which team but it may have been the Vikings) in the past but McCombs has said that Jones won't do it again. Not sure what he means by "won't" but it could be interesting if McCombs tries to bring another NFL team to SA. Red McCombs is not exactly a lightweight... |
Great video, Mentat! Very informative and way funny!
|
The NFL has been trying to build the interest in overseas markets with games being played there, and I know they don't like Davis. Perhaps the Raiders are moving to Europe?
|
Great we get a crappy last place team and now we have blackouts and lose the regional TV games.

Art Modell is an evil, SOB. His treatment of Mr Brown was inexcusable. |
I'm glad they brought back a NFL team to LA, where the Rams belong. I wish they would go back to a schedule where the two conferences didn't meet until the super bowl.
The money made sense, for everyone but the fans. |
