F1 Engine Rules Change

F1 to end engine restrictions in bid to improve competition - BBC Sport

Good news and it's well overdue.

Good Plan to make this change, it will be great to see the opportunity for the teams to do more development through the season. Especially Honda, now we will see what they can do are capable of.
I'd wager that if Ferrari had been in the cat bird seat lately this may not have happened.

Cheers Richard

They should have been honest and said "bid to end boredom". I don't give a rat's ass about efficiency or any other Prius stuff, I want rocket powered hovercraft blasting around the track at 300 MPH. It is RACING. Remove most of the restrictions and let the engineers play, F1 would be much more entertaining.

Yup. Just go crazy. Woohooo!

They need to scrap the entire engine formula. Absolutely sound like crap. Too complicated. And let them run whatever tire they want whenever and for as long as they want. The most boring racing ever. Let them refuel so as not to worry about fuel economy. I'm with onewhippedpuppy on this one.

I think there is room for an unlimited series... 6 hour race (to keep things interesting), at least 3 tires, no other rules.

You have to have rules that relate to the safety of the driver and spectators.

And you could argue that most of the current rules are about safety.

I agree. I hate races that are fuel economy runs.

The teams all voted no on refuelling even though the FIA wanted it to make pit stops more interesting. Too much hassle and freight expense for them, not to mention there have been some fires in the past.

I suppose to some extent, but if you remove the danger you remove the drama, and when you remove the drama you remove the reason to watch. Nobody gets excited about small displacement engines racing about in the most efficient way possible, it's like televising an accounting audit. Let's be honest, racing has never been safer.......or more boring.

Lose the aero, go back to torpedoes with wheels. Ground effects allowed under the car. Refueling and tire changes banned.
