Top Gear's Second Host Is ...........

Matt LeBlanc from Friends.

Didn't know he was such a car guy. Will I watch it? Not sure, it just won't be the same without the crew.

Top Gear's second Host

He's definitely a motorcycle guy though.

URY914 02-04-2016 06:19 PM

I don't see this working out well.

So was the Hamster :D

I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Would be great to be able to watch the old crew on their new Amazon show and still have a entertaining Top Gear to watch!

Bill Douglas 02-04-2016 08:37 PM

Oh no.

onewhippedpuppy 02-05-2016 03:35 AM

Ummm, ok. Sabine or Chris Harris would have made a lot more sense. You have to think there's some uproar in Jolly Olde England about an American being the host on Top Gear UK.

Rtrorkt 02-05-2016 03:54 AM

so no Sabine?

KNS 02-05-2016 04:03 AM

I don't think Matt Le Blanc is a bad choice at all, he's already established in the UK. I wish the best for the new Top Gear but I think the fans and press are going to brutal no matter what they do.

I also hope the Amazon show is successful. The three guys are enjoyable to watch but if it's more slapstick and scripted, over the top antics, it may be a turn-off.

Nickshu 02-05-2016 05:24 AM

He's been hosting the recent series of "Top Gear Races" on BBCAmerica. His persona is pretty flat on the show so far. After working w/ Clarkson et al drama for years my guess is the producers want some boring guys on there ala Fifth Gear.

Yeah, I thought it was Sabine and Chris Harris.

Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc interests me not in the least.

I have watched part of one of those. Matt has as much on air presence and personality as a local plumber doing a commercial for daytime TV. I had no idea who he was, I had to google him. I had heard the name but I never watched a minute of Friends.

Of course all he was doing was introducing a clip from yet another re-run of the old top gear.

ckissick 02-05-2016 06:06 AM

Perhaps the number one source of laughs in the original show was the teasing they did of one-another. Le Blanc will be the butt of a steady diet of American jokes. I lived in England for a year. Believe me, there will be plenty of jokes. They could even throw in some French ones, as well. So there is that.

porsche4life 02-05-2016 06:50 AM

Don't know if I'll even bother to try to watch the new show. Seems like they are trying to pick a boring lineup like fifth gear. Evans and LeBlanc neither seem that funny or entertaining...

CJFusco 02-05-2016 07:54 AM

I don't know what the story behind the photo is, and I can't seem to find it on the internet right now, but I recently saw a photo of LeBlanc that featured him standing next to a window in his house, and in his driveway was a Porsche 917 in red livery. At least he has good taste.

He also owned a tuned-out 996 Turbo, unless I'm mistaken.

wayner 02-05-2016 08:21 AM

I liked him in the show "episodes" where he played himself :-)

puddy 02-05-2016 07:07 PM

I hope Sabine is still part of the show, I enjoy watching her, I like Chris Harris too. Matt Leblanc is also an interesting addition.

Flieger 02-05-2016 07:51 PM

Sabine gave an interview at Daytona saying she's not a host but that she could still do some appearances.

epbrown 02-06-2016 02:34 AM

And Chris Evans posted a pic of the Top Gear crew at a table waiting for Matt and Chris Harris was there, so he's still involved as well. It looks like the new format has more presenters...

We are very proud to announce that racing driver Sabine Schmitz, YouTube star Chris Harris, F1 pundit Eddie Jordan and motoring journalist Rory Reid will join Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and of course, The Stig, when the show returns in May.

Deschodt 02-11-2016 02:11 PM

That's a lot of people... Eddie Jordan is a bit of a whack job too... I guess this will not follow the old 3 guys format !

masraum 02-11-2016 03:28 PM

My guess is that they are going to have 3-4 per show, and as the cream rises to the top, they'll do more and more and the others will do less and less.

KNS 02-12-2016 08:03 AM

Only a revolving two to four will be in most of the segments (other than perhaps the studio stuff with the audience). All six will shift through various films, races and contests. (I highly doubt they'd take all six to Africa (for example) but you never know.
