Are you 40+, single and happy?

Another poster's comment caught me by surprise....just curious.

sc_rufctr 02-11-2016 03:34 AM

I voted "Yes, formally married"

Life is good!

sammyg2 02-11-2016 06:34 AM

Not sure how formal my marriage is, I was formerly single 23 years ago ;)

Sorry, couldn't hep myseff.

Married a Brit while in College in UK at 22. Most miserable 8 years of my life (She said she HATED the USA and threatened to leave every week unless stayed in charge. Ironically, been divorced 25 years the the B!T@H is STILL living here:confused:)

Single from 30-40, living in Manhattan Beach:eek:. Thought I was in heaven!…until I met and married my second wife. Built-in best friend with benefits and wouldn't trade her for being single again for all the Manhattan Beach flight attendant-poontang in the world.

looks to be falling along a similar percentage to my coworkers who are either very happy, or not happy at all from being married.

Poll not well worded.

Suppose you are >40, married, unhappy? <40, single, happy? What button are you supposed to click?

Not sure what conclusions to draw from such an ambiguous poll. Maybe the 9 people who said "no" are all under 40.

Probably should have worded something like

"Only answer if you are >40
1. Single, unhappy
2. Single, happy
3. Married, unhappy
4. Married, happy"

^^^^ Agreed, poorly detailed pole...but enough to start the conversation.

Crowbob 02-11-2016 07:01 AM

I've been married and happy.

Happy is better.

Wouldn't that be a different poll? This poll is for those who are over 40 and single.

IMO, jyl is on the right track. The poll question should read "If you are over 40 AND single, are you happy?"

I'm over 40, but NOT single but am Happy, so technically I could answer No.

KFC911 02-11-2016 08:44 AM

Ha, y'all caught it....I realized the poll sucked as soon as I read it back...

All lesbian couples, school children, and smart azz PPOT engineers should just select 1 :D

Accurate like a Fox SmileWavy

Crap! I elected happy and formally married thinking that was the option for happily married people. Put me down for 1 along with the lesbos and kids!

Or formally married, happy, and single.
Or something.
I don't get it.

aschen 02-11-2016 12:34 PM

I dont think many people will consider themselves unhappy (hopefully), but that is not to say that they might be happier with a significant other.

This is how a felt in many of my single years, though IM not quite 40 yet or still single

How about some sub categories - Some days happy, some days miserable (not her fault) Some days even more pissed (her fault) Some days we're both pissed (dog's fault) .... the list could go on and on....life is never simple....
As for me - on whole very happily married. I'm sort of a jerk, so I got lucky.

25 years later we still love our times together. Hard work for sure...more for her I would say. So grateful to have her in my life.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-11-2016 05:59 PM
