Fire up the PPOT brain trust super computer. Can this be welded?

Argh. Broke a leveling foot on my old butcher table. Pissed since it we the last one and didn't need to be turned. I had three loose that could level the table.

This is not on the shelf. Any shelf.

Help. I'm pissed. Table top is getting planed as we type.

Looks like cast iron? Heat it up red hot and then it can be brazed. Might have to retap the threads though

My machinist friend, who makes well casings and repairs low lift pipes, would be able to fix that.

Or maybe turn a new one?

I'd bring to a machineshop that I use through work. It is probably easier to make from scratch. Just FYI - on a 4 legged table, you only need one leg adjustable to keep it from rocking. :)

Looks like you manhandled that with vice grips? Been working out too much!

Have it brazed. Matching the threads could be tricky. Can the table leg be taken to the welding shop? Have it brazed to the leg and it will last forever.

I'd just clean it up along with the leg and clamp it in place so the threads are matched and use some JB Weld on it.

I believe that can be welded with nickel rod. Plan B is braze it.

lots of great ideas.

thinking of mixing some of them. i might get my weld buddy, (who wont answer his phone) to clamp it on and weld it onto the leg. permanently..then i still have three to adjust.

unless i got all hulk on them and break them. super annoying..

i was fasting for a blood test and was starving..and got really angry. hahah..over it.

HULK SMASH

lol note to self. Don't mess with hangry vash!

aigel 02-12-2016 11:59 AM

hangry? Haha - never heard that. My whole family has the tendency!

Don Ro 02-12-2016 12:12 PM

You could go goober & use a muffler clamp.
:)

Use a rusty hose clamp, it'll look authentic

MBAtarga 02-12-2016 12:31 PM

JB Weld and clamp it in place on the table leg to cure....

vash 02-12-2016 01:19 PM

Welder quoted me two hours. $115 per hour.

Got a temp fix in place since the table might not fit in my future kitchen. Guess which side goes up against the wall.

Saving the parts for JBweld fix. Later.

Too embarrassed to post pic. Macgyver would not approve.

This guy is not a friend if he was $230 just to weld that up... If you were in OK I know several pros that would fix that for way less. Hell I know one old guy that would do it for free for me just because he liked my grandpa... That's a buddy deal!

$230 is highway robbery....

My friend ha not retuned calls. He knew deep in Tacoma sliders and bumper fabs. Hate to bother him. Really.
This welder is near my home. He does commissioned art pieces.

Build a back yard blast furnace. Sand cast a new mold of the part. Make 4 new ones. :)

or

Rad hose clamp and some JB Weld :)

vash 02-12-2016 02:34 PM
