This is what Renault
Quote:
It certainly does not scream "mid-engine", which is a missed opportunity in a world of front engine cars. It's just not sexy. What ignorance about Renault evidenced above. Their Alpine division has made wonderful sports cars in the past, with a huge number of world class event wins in their trophy cupboard, although not as many as Porsche admittedly. The car will likely be much cheaper than the Cayman, with much cheaper parts prices and servicing costs too.No affiliation, but have owned several Renaults, (one currently) and did 450,000 miles in one from new(on original drivetrain throughout) and sold it still running

And just exactly where is your local Renault dealership to support your purchase ? It seems like alot of effort, risk and hassle just to be able to drive something a little bit different.
My memory doesn't come up with good images when I think of Renault......Fuego, LeCar....etc. |

Gee, I fixed Fiats and Renaults way back when, and they always worked when they left my shop.
Renault knows hot to build engines and drive trains, and they know turbos. The problem with Renaults is that you can't work on them if you already know everything. |

The Renault looks like a collection of stolen design cues trying to fight one another for prominence. Bland at best.

To each his own I guess... I absolutely LOVE the original Alpine Berlinette, and I'd own one today if the prices had not gone stratospheric, like those of early 911s. (although truth be told I barely fit in one) There are enough cues in this new car (nose, sides) that I would like to have one (in blue, with yellow fog lights please) if it cost less than a Cayman. Renault can do very good hot hatches, and if renault sport does this well, it could be fantastic !
Of course it does not help that the new 718 Cayman will be gorgeous and probably a better car overall, but not cheap... So pricing will be key. I want that Alpine... PS: as far as support, Renault owns a majority stake in nissan. So nissan dealers. |
