Any Pcar folks in Twentynine Palms area? looking for mechanic & truck

Hey Folks

My son is a Marine going to Twentynine Palms as his PDS and I want to help him get a truck so he can explore the area. His budget is tight so I am going to help him, looking on CL in Twentynine Palms/ Palm Springs area for an auto trans. small/mid, 4wd truck in the 6-7k range. If anyone knows of a descent truck for sale please PM me.

Also if anyone knows a good mechanic in that area if we needed to get a PPI or service would appreciate any help.

Twenty-Nine Palms (known as Twenty Nine Stumps) is tiny and Palm Springs may not have the choices you are looking for.

I spoke with local Marines in recruit station (OR) and I may buy local and drive it down so I can really look it over. I am learning fast his PDS is very remote...

I very much recommend that approach. I am a retired Navy pilot and have spent some quality time at 29 Palms - great flying, very remote location

Yeah, two-nine is out there, and he will never forget the smell of Lake Bandini.

If you are buying a truck, you might look for something with some clearance. During the rainy season, some of the roads in/out can flood pretty good.

Also, tell him to be smart when in town. The local LEOs there are (or at least used to be) notorious for pulling Marines over right outside the gates (usually on their way back from the bars).
