I've heard Cuba is actually pretty nice this time of year and not as hot as Poland. Plus all the beverages are comp'ed. |
From the sounds of things, we should all just stay home under the covers and be very afraid. Have a great time and send photos.

Have a great trip! SmileWavy

After the Japan thread, sounds like he's trolling us. :)

Maybe Mrs Motion wouldn't want him back? I would also see if any big life insurance policy were outstanding on me, Double Indemnity Baby!!!
|
I've got dibs on first choice of the motorcycles.
Have fun Motion! Cheers Richard |
You gonna ride a camel from Lebanon to Bahrain for the MotoGP race?
EDIT: ooops, that's Qatar |
I'm thinking of booking a cruise ship from the Syrian coast to Greece. Any tips?

Tony Bourdain has done a couple of his shows on Beirut. He usually has some inside info about each episode, talking about where he went, restaurants he visited, etc. Might be worth a look.

My sister went there to lecture about a year ago.
Big garbage strike (6 months in the making?), the view from the back of her hotel was like a city dump. She went to Morocco too, a little more held together. |

Go to Pigeon Rock and take some selfies. There are a few really nice restaurants and cafes in that area also. That's about the only touristy thing I had time to do. I recommend you get an escort that knows the areas. The Bekka valley is a very picturesque, rural area. East of that is the Qalamoun mountains and the Syrian border. The rest of the time I was involved in meetings and business-related sightseeing. I have some nice aerial photos of a Hezbollah "secret airfield". That may not be the kind of things you're looking to do, though. lol |
How about 3 days in Somalia on the way back? Hear the beaches are nice, locals watch the ships roll by! ;) Be safe, life is for living!

WTFE with this place anymore. Good god you guys.
Enjoy the trip dude. I am extremely jealous - Can I go with you. Seriously can I? |

How much are you chipping in there big guy |
I wouldn't buy a lot of LBP. Around Beirut, most places will accept USD.
Some of the smaller places may not, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a little bit in your pocket. Date on the image file says I took these in 2013, not 2014. On the ramp at Rayak Air Base, looking southeast at the snow on the mountain. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456427961.jpg Pigeon Rock, Bay Rock, etc http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456428257.jpg Different view: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456429707.jpg If you like trains, Lebanon has an interesting train/railway history dating back to Ottoman times. There is an old train station near Rayak that has some rolling stock and engines. They were talking about making it a museum, but never got funding. I don't know if you can still visit or not. It might be too far gone. Google it. Edit: For what it's worth, I stayed at the Radisson Blu. Pretty good place with 'controlled access'. Not too pricey. Good breakfast each morning. Within walking distance to the marina and several good restaurants. |
Wear something comfortable.
But with good firepower. One of those small frame .45ACPs maybe. |

Ha! Motion eats RPGs for breakfast.
