LOL @ Nissan

What a bunch of clowns.

Nissan’s connected car app offline after shocking vulnerability revealed
Anonymous requests only required a VIN to control a car remotely.

I really don't want a car being remotely controlled by ANYONE, let alone anonymous hackers.

Given the clowns I know at Nissan, I'm not the least bit surprised.

Now if that vulnerability extended to this 'feature' .....oh the fun that could be had.....

Yes, it is a security exposure. However, how many peeps are clamoring to jack with climate control on a Datsun?

What a HUGE shift! it is not just Nissan IMO Japan is in serious trouble. Back in the 80s American cars were straight up JUNK and now its shifting. Japanese stuff is falling behind technically and quality control is becoming a huge problem. I hope they can pull it together.

I've heard that there is not much left of the Japanese engineering employees from before the Renault buyout. Basically Nissans are warmed over Renaults these days.

Bought my son a new xterra in 05. Built like a small tank and is tight to this day with 136k. We replaced the fuel tank level sender but other than that just regular maint. My wife had a new Infiniti FX-35 in 04. Nice but they had set those early ones up for the "sport" mode and it was harsh when the tire wear got over 30k. Kept it till the new G-35's came out in 07. It had all the bells and whistles, sold it to my brother who still hasn't had any trouble with it and over 250k. My wife decides she needs something with 7 seats so we looked at the Infiniti suv and built in the same plant for 10k less we get the new body style 07 Pathfinder Platinum. Very nice too. At 75k it had a strange hesitation shifting and I thought oh no the dreaded cvs but they reprogrammed it and no more problem. Pulled a trailer a heavy trailer and my 356 on several 300 mile trips. It got 25 on the highway with no wind but far less with winds. and honestly it had more wind noise than we really liked. Traded it for a new 16 Murano at 90k. It is the smoothest most quiet car we have ever had. Got 28 on a recent trip. Damn you guys have had some sorry examples I guess. As for the app we'll never use it. Not compatible with iPhones for whatever reason.

Ya wtf is up with that?
The Pathfinder looks like a damn minivan now!

I wouldn't have bought another Nissan. Had some pretty terrible warranty service on my wife's X-Trail. Nissan stood by their dealer and lost a customer. Oh well, new customers are easy to get....
