Ducati 900SS coming home

I put an hour on my friends 900SS today and bought it. I'll pick it up tomorrow. It is in amazing shape, has some nice upgrades/maintenance history and it was priced very well. It put a huge grin on my face and makes such nice sounds!

My goodness, that's so pretty. I am getting a MC license soon. But I'll keep it on the dirt roads - I think.

The only motorcycle I own that gets compliments from women on how great it sounds and looks!

Shine a flashlight down into the front corners of the gas tank and look for rust. If you see some, you might want to address the problem. Here's what mine looked like, nice and clean!

I have found it to be an very easy bike to maintain.

And get this manual:

Thanks! He's got that manual and all the records back to day 1. The only complaint I had after an hours ride was that the mirrors are like wet noodles. That will need to be addressed asap.

Ditto on the front corners of the tank-found mine was leaking when it pissed gas on my leg 100 mi from home. Water settles there, and they go. JB weld or tank epoxy is an easy fix. Regulator wiring is also an issue.

Nice bike mate!

Pop quiz. Which of these vehicles has the smaller turning radius?

The stock mirrors get all floppy. Ken Sean makes a replacement that's reasonably priced and looks appropriate. Congrats on the new bike!

exactly. i removed my mirrors and put a bar end mirror on the left side. i know have a geekpro camera mounted where the left mirror was. kinda looks like it belongs there.

YMMV.

Ha, yes, the spending spree has been a big one. It scares me a little you know all of that :-) I also sold two 911's, a GTI, an Acura SUV and a house for more than double what I paid for the new one! I'm 8 years post divorce, I may make to 9 :-)

I figured I'd throw this out to the crowd here and post over on Ducat.ms as well

The bike had FCR41s installed at 19,595. At 25,000 it was taken in and the carbs were gone through, new needle/seats installed and it was adjusted on a dyno with 175 mains installed to help richen the mixture. The bike had been running too lean according to the tech working on it at the time. My friend only put about 1,000 miles on it the last few years. It is now fouling plugs very quickly. I took it on a spirited 60 mile run prior to purchase after he installed new plugs. It started fairly easily and ran great. Yesterday though the new plugs were again both sooty and it started spitting and coughing. Valve adjust is recent, recent belts, newish battery that cranks well. I'm sure I'll get this sorted but any help would be appreciated.
