CCW holder stops attack at a 7-11.....

Hatchet-swinging attacker shot and killed by customer at 7-Eleven - AOL

Maybe California will take notice....NOT!

For every incident like the one you cited, you'll probably get 50 like this one: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/10/08/woman-with-concealed-gun-permit-shoots-at-fleeing-shoplifter-could-face-charges/

Women+hot flashes+CCW=.....oye vey!

There will always be media outlets that will report situations like this BUT follow onto the report saying CCW also raises crime rates. You know they always have to say that.

I think we should build a fence around California before the Mexican boarder. Second thought it might be the same thing.

I am dubious about the accuracy of your assertion, and I just checked.

Maybe they just very rarely report them.

Well we have this story... maybe it isn't about a CCW holder going off in public, but it backs the assertion that more guns doesn't automatically equal a safer society.

The stupidity of a few should not become a burden on the rest who are carrying on normally.

Lots of bias come into play. Statistically, there is less crime now than in the 80s. But more guns. They may not be related, like an AFC team winning the SB means it will be a bull year for the stock market, or something like that.

cstreit 03-14-2016 04:59 PM

...of course when you prevent a crime, it does usually not get reported so there really isnt an accurate stat of how many crimes are prevented by someone simply drawing down and saying, "not today you aren't".

So who knows... I've seen wildly varying reports

I doubt the clerk would have been able to open the drop safe, and the register would be nearly empty at that hour.

I decided tonight to apply for a CWP.

Doesn't necessarily mean I will carry - but I will always have the option.

There are nuts who own guns as well as nuts who oppose gun ownership. Then there are the thugs out there. The latter are who concern me the most.

Now where did I put that 9mm ammo.......:)

There once was a guy preying on single, especially older women in the next town over. He'd get in by breaking a small door window to unlock door. He then camped out for several days taking what he wanted in more ways than one. Police couldn't catch the guy for 2-3 years. One day he picked the wrong 85 year old woman and she blew his pervert head right off his shoulders. A heroine for sure.

I tried to find the link but it was in the late 90s. Though it seems it has happened a lot with older people vs intruders here in CO after I googled it.

This is one of the sticky wickets about this discussion: there's very little data about crimes that didn't happen. We hear about it when someone actually gets shot, and there are statistics when crimes are completed. But how many times does someone draw their carry-spoon and deter a Bad Thing? I've seen numbers as low as about 60,000 per year to numbers as high as roughly 500K per year. The fact that the estimates vary that much should tell us that we really don't know. :(

I see someone open carrying about once a week. Saw a woman doing it last weekend, walking between Starbucks and Target. Saw a guy doing it yesterday at the grocery store. I was carrying concealed the whole time. These weren't high crime areas and criminals aren't the smartest bunch. But they have to know, when they see people regularly open carrying, that they (bad guys) will likely face an armed response long before anyone bothers calling the cops if they were to try to hurt someone. You can't put that into the stats, but it has to have an effect.

There was a local case not long ago here of a lady that was in a car crash that was reported in the paper. Some local degenerates figured she would have prescription pain pills from the hospital. Two guys decided to go kick down her door and steal the pills and they did just that.

The good news is she heard them pull up late at night and she had her gun ready. She blew one guy away as he was about to club her with a baseball bat. The other guy ran and called 911 and made up some total BS story about how the lady just went nuts and killed his friend. The cops could see the evidence and figured out what really happened. He is in prison now convicted of first degree murder of his degenerate friend since the lady killed him. Two lows life scum balls out of the gene pool.

The first week I had moved to Arizona (Sept. '10) I was in a Walgreen's drug store in the cashier's line. I looked down at the guy in front of me to see a 1911 strapped to his upper thigh. I thought, "I'm in the right place (Arizona)."
.
I frequently carry concealed, also. Either a S&W M638 or a Garcia FI Model D .380.
And I have a heater in both vehicles.
