Another computer question please
The hard drive on my desktop failed and I had it replaced. I am restoring bookmarks and favorites and something odd is going on.
I tried to access my accounts at Computershare but that website won't recognize my credentials. I cross checked myself with my laptop and was able to get into my accounts no problem. So hows come the repaired computer can't get me into my accounts? Just coincidence or something associated with setting up the new hard drive? |
How does computershare authenticate you? If just a user/pass then it should just work. If it is certificate based then you'll need to get your certificate(s) into the proper spot.

user/pass being rejected on the repaired unit but accepted on the older one. very weird.

Agreed, likely a certificate issue or identification is also tied to a hardware ID

well then I guess that requires a call on Monday. Thanks guys.

I would guess it is either an issue with your desktop not being able to save certificates or cookies from the website in question? I just installed a new SSD in place of my old "C" drive and used Samsung's drive clone software and once the computer started with the new drive the connection to my credit union's website was the first thing I checked and it was okay. At school the other night while I was on a break I went to login to the bank site and it did not recognize the computer or my credentials and wanted to either call me or text me with a call back to verify who I was! Very impressive.
