#callbrussels
First and foremost, prayers for the victims.
Once the dust settles, I hope all western countries will consider that advertising campaigns designed to obfuscate the true evil that is being allowed to exist are not only a waste of money, but can be deadly form of denial.

Hopefully this doesn't go PARF.
"designed to obfuscate the true evil that is being allowed to exist" Really? Exactly how is and ad that was created and aired by a city eager to promote tourism after tragic events (that happened in a different country), "designed to obfuscate the true evil that is being allowed to exist"? By your logic any ad running about New York is way worse since the death toll there was about 100 time what it was in Belgium today. And please cite the evidence that "true evil is being allowed to exist" there. Terrorism is a scourge that no Western country tolerates.

Well, I will admit to dashing that off without a lot of forethought, that's true.
But I think Belgium as well as much of western Europe has turned a blind eye to the growing menace of Muslim terrorism. As for evidence, well that's not my specialty, but it's tough to argue that Belgium hasn't become a breeding ground for terrorism. And quite honestly, I'm afraid the US isn't that far behind them. Just my opinion obviously. The news now is also reporting they new this current attack was coming a couldn't do anything about it. Past the tipping point so they say. Having said that, I think it is an immigration issue. My family is from Holland where my relatives still live. Many of them feel that immigration has led their country down the same path as Belgium. Unchecked immigration has created minority group ghettos. These places usually have high unemployment, crime and little opportunity for escape - a perfect breeding ground for radicalization. France struggles with this too. To some extent, I see it here in Canada too. Some minority groups make absolutely no attempt to assimilate to their new environment save for the ability to carry out the most rudimentary tasks like getting a drivers license. They try to import the very values/customs/laws that they were ostensibly running away from in their native country. There is a bank in Toronto whose lending policies are congruent with Sharia law which prohibits the charging of interest for example. Canada has embraced multi-culturalism. It has been a net positive for Canada. My parents were immigrants. The problem is that those who cannot make it in their new country often become a problem. Maybe there should be a probationary period - if you become a problem, back you go. Not sure what the answer is.

I certainly did not mean to denigrate the Belgians - but I could see how my OP was a bit off target.
I simply do not want to see Begium, Europe, or any other western country hide from the evil that is immigrating to their homes. And believe, based on what I've read, that our leaders are failing to face the scope of the evil inside their borders. Yesterday we learned that Belgium officials admit that for years "dozens" of Muslims a month have been going to Syria for training in terrorism. And then there's this: "As M Jambon, the Belgian Interior Minister, told CNN on Monday: Jambon says the majority of young Muslims are well integrated into Belgian society, but admits his government has more to do to make some feel "at home" in their own country, given that a sense of alienation can leave them open to the threat of radicalization. "We're talking about third- and fourth-generation [immigrants]; these youngsters are born in Belgium, even their fathers and mothers are born in Belgium, and still they are open for these kind of messages. This is not normal -- in the U.S., the second generation was the President; here, the fourth generation is an IS fighter -- so that is really something we have to work on."
