Privately popping question tonight at home: suggestions?
Popping question tonight at the house: looking for an unusual way to do so to keep from being so boring at it.
My best thought today is to slide it on her finger as she sleeps, and place a card/flowers in her bathroom as that's her first stop early in the am...she won't notice the ring immediately I'm pretty sure. Other thoughts?

I know what to say, I have the perfect ring, it's NOT a surprise to her, but WHEN she's gonna get it will be the surprise.

How about right after you finish the counter-clockwise swirl? Then go straight to the bathroom, cut off your nuts, and put them in a drawer. Good luck. Seriously...

I'm somewhat dreading this very thing pretty soon.
I need ideas too. I was thinking I'd need to go all out being somewhere romantic and all that, but I really like your sneaky way of doing it.

I'm a swirl-master & have been neutered for 6 years...this is a great gal for me: wonderful match
![]() Well being that I'm recently divorced, I figured a more private proposal might suit my situation better & thwart unnecessary/undue speculation.

Do not put the ring on her w/o her knowing. Far too presumptuous on your part. Even if you know she's gonna say yes she needs to say it first.

Mark,
A novel approach is not what you want. She needs you to tell her you have given this a lot of thought and you need to show her you need her in your life for always. (cue the ring). As Java said, putting the ring on while she is sleeping is presumptuous (and maybe a bit creepy) Best Les

I suggest:
1. You should both be awake. 2. You, she, and the ring should all be in the room at the same time. So, that rules out both your suggestions IMO. Have fun!

Also,
If you know her well enough to get married you should be able to see it through her eyes and figure out something she would really enjoy, not something you think is clever.

Why be so cute about it? Kinda boyish, sounds to me.
A woman wants her man's eyes to show his love and sincerity as he gives her an engagement ring. That's a moment that will always remain with her. Not some dopey wake-up from a snooze and, "Oh, what's this on my finger. Where's my man? Is he hiding in the garage?" She already knows it's coming. Grow up!!! and look at her directly and have the reality of your presence reflect the reality of the ring. Or vice versa - whatever. Sheese....anyway. Why all the ................? Oh never mind.

Ya know...'been thinking about this and I wonder if you think that either you or your giving her an engagement ring is not enough. As in, you're trying to make it a bigger deal because perhaps in your mind either you or you and the ring are just not enough.
Maybe just some dopey thinking on my part.

(assuming you tell her in person tonight)
![]() If you are anything like me, it would be best to turn OFF PPOT and not be checking it every 10 minutes. For example- right now my wife is trying to tell me something. but I am here, typing THIS.. I should be helping her set the table. Don't do what I am doing. At least for the first week or two. Good luck! Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 03-23-2016 at 04:32 PM.. |

Don't want to be boring? Then don't propose at home! Do it somewhere inspiring.

I'm seeing a quiet evening at home. Maybe a fire in the fireplace, a glass of wine, some Vivaldi in the background - then explosives, followed by a news chopper overhead shining a spotlight. Cop cars in the street with lights and sirens. Automatic weapons fire. Cops screaming through a bullhorn "Get down! Get down!"
She would probably say yes to anything. |

![]() Mark, you know your gal better than we do so maybe quirky is good? I got divorced and had to think about this again just last year. Decided to pop the question at the top of a mountain - got married last month so I guess it worked. Here are a few: 9 Unique Ways To Hide Diamond Engagement Rings Maybe even freeze the ring in an ice cube? Whatever it is, just tell her how much she means to you and you'll be good to go! Good luck

Ask her about her weight then propose.
Should go well. ![]() Seriously, look her in the eye and tell her why you want to marry her. Speak from the heart and tell her about her. Be a man in love and explain why. If you also get the ring right, buckle up.
