Wow, i'm coming in late to this thread, but it sure appears as if either High school is on break for the week, and Junior is home and bored, or someone got ahold of daddy's Porsche and scared some little kids, which for some reason, made him feel bigger than the boy he is.

thanks blizzard

I probably need to go ahead and start that build thread showing how and what I did to make young booger there who he is today.

I love sharing my driving stories man! I've got a short book's worth of them.

Oh, and let me just say at this point to everybody......please please do not attempt to perform any photography in the manner in which I did this morning. It requires many years of training and is incredibility risky. Unfortunately, it can only be attempt on public roads. Any attempt to do so at a track would probably result in being booted from whatever event it is you are participating.

so hey rattlsnak, you are one of the guys I've been reading for years now...but I don't think we've every communicated directly...so hi, nice to meet you. Somewhat local to you, so maybe we've actually met.

Heck, you never know! You going to PCA club races next weekend at Road Atlanta?

chrisf 03-26-2016 01:24 PM

Hey, here is a quick pic

of another road this morning:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1459027040.jpg

this one goes on for a few miles like this. Fresh black top. One other road coming in during that time.
But..........there are many homes back off the road here. Homes of people I wouldn't want to piss off. Because I don't think booger has any twins up here in this mountain community. He is very well known by the local authorities and they would know exactly where to find him.

So on a technical note.....one can travel this road at 3500rpm, and really work the car well. Pull some type of bull**** like Bafoon does (or at least says he does) around the residents? Your done. I don't care who you are....your done.

But, get on the breaks quick, shut the throttle, and you get wide eyed stares and thumbs up with smiles.

THAT Bafoon......is for me, just one of the more enjoyable moments of owning and driving a race car like Porsche. spreading joy and nostalgia, not bull**** and terror.

are you beginning to understand where some of us are coming from?

The best way to kill off a troll is to ignore them. I encourage everyone to post whatever they like but don't make any reference to the OP.
Chris: let me know if the club goes for a drive at the Tail. I haven't been there since last fall and its time to get acquainted again.

juanbenae 03-26-2016 04:25 PM

so, here are the ARB's ill be installing on the TT tomorrow at my folks house. nice going to the country of north Monterey county to spent time with my pops in his shop.. the lift helps... they are GMG hollow units that come with bushings and use the stock drop links... allegedly..;)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1459037699.jpg

so the birds, got a pair after rehabbing and freeing a dove my cat got to last spring. they have has 2 broods now having 3 & 4 chicks. they are very entertaining and sing constantly. kinda messy at times, but as the weather warms up they spend more time outside. hard keeping the offspring from makin kin on kin love and have dump two clutches of eggs from the offspring cage. when im high I will sit watching & listening to them for longer than I should, but they are very relaxing.

I have moved on a few of the ones hatched here to a local lady I found on craigs list that has an aviary type breeding operation. im trying to sort thru the remaining 4 I have to find a couple males that are brothers, therefore will get along and keep just them. my pops says it's the latin in me as both his pops and grand pops raised a variety of finches and canaries when he was a boy. I tried to give him a couple and he passed...

thinking about getting a goat. any thoughts?

juanbenae 03-26-2016 04:30 PM

and oh yeah, only the males really really sing. the females just make lil noises at times... less pretty plumage as well.

I will also post some pics tomorrow of the ARB install in an effort to get this thread right..

hey, nice job on the garbage disposal. I will need to be doing the same in the house we just moved into end of last year. It would clunk and then hum when I flipped the switch. I was going to put some PB blaster in it, and then try to coax is with a screw driver or wrench or something, but when I went to test again before doing this, it wasn't doing any thing. So I just left it. No biggie, as we didn't have one in the last place.

Pretty straight forward I would imagine?

I like birds man. Always have. We have a huge red tail hawk in my back yard here. The next door neighbors told us that he has been living in our back yard for about three years. We are the first people to live in this house since they said he moved back there. So, he is watching us with much interest. Last week I was about 30 yards in the back yard, and was watching my wife and girl on the deck when he came around the side of the house with his swing spread to about a 3ft span. it was a very slow glide and eerily silent. I **** you not, he went right over my wife's head and then casually continued on towards me with his head sorta cocked. He was looking right at me as he went about ten feet above my head. Then on down the hill he turned and went. Not one flap of the wings. Left quite an impression on me. Now, there are two more hanging around.
We see them circling each other and screeching. Usually one or two will stay up high. I can tell they are gaming each other. Occasional quick turns and then an eventual dive towards another. doesn't seem too aggressive or anything. More like a territorial game or something. But very cool to watch.

juanbenae 03-26-2016 05:24 PM

there is a nesting pair of redtails here that have set up shop on the veranda of a local 5 story dot-com company. the last two years the company has set up a camera fixed on the nest. much like the finches I found myself mesmerized watching the feed as the babies grew. the nest is out by the landfill water treatment plant so they fed on a variety of vittles. the parents brought back rats, squirrel, snakes, & lizards that they would devour. late in the season they somehow flung dung (remaining on topic) on the lens of the camera really short circuiting the show. the company leaves the nest, cleans the building after they vacate & have promised a better camera position & streaming effort. if they return this year on camera I will link it right here in DDB's one shinning moment (march madness hoops reference) thread...

chris, I don't know which way the water spins down a drain in the volunteer state, but out here in California no plumbing job is as strait forward as it seems at the outset... go ahead, take yir bag of old parts with you to the store in a ziplock 4qt sized bag and no matter what you have to make a second trip. plumbing is always a two store trip minimum...

since I watched the finches some before I started the project I could not make a second trip to the store safely, hence the radiator hose and a couple hose clamps from my collection. I

m gunna watch the finches somemore, right after I bookmark this, my new favorite thread, ever!

That's really funny. When thinking about, I more often than not wish I had some finches to watch. hhhmmmmm.... I think I like that expression:

"hey, I think I need to watch the finches. I'll be right back. Stay here....don't move."

hey juan, when you get a chance snap some pics of your little friends man.

June 9-12th. It's the highlands Motoring Festival. We did it last year, I think we may have had maybe 13 or so cars. Really good turn out. And man, what a drive. We were moving very quickly on the way out there. Hardly any traffic. It was great.

I'm putting the info together now, and will have something out to Jon shortly.

I think it'll be a multi level event for us. Drive out Thursday for the festival drive on Friday. then maybe a drive out Friday for those showing their car on Saturday, and then maybe a day drive out Saturday morning for those wanting to just drive and then check out the cars.

here are just a few of the pics from last year.

The black gullwing is an all original car. original red leather. original paint. and original owner. He told me he drives it all over the country. If I recall correctly, he said he had just returned from some type of gathering in Colorado!

They also had an M1, and several Porsche. there was an incredible '73s.

chrisf 03-26-2016 06:10 PM

The owner was really really cool

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1459044115.jpg

When he told me about the leather, I had to ask him if I could touch it.

He said...."yeah, hold on a second." He reached in and flipped a switch that folded the steering wheel down. then he said " hop in!!"

I had never thought about it, but you can't get in with the steering wheel in the driving position!

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1459044412.jpg

This gentleman was so cool. He talked to me for about 15minutes, while I sat in his car checking the controls, shifter, etc.....

Really, the whole event is super laid back with its fair share of what most of us, I am sure, would consider very high end cars.
