Porsche Parade 2016
Hey all,
I see that 2016's Porsche Parade will be held in Jay Peak VT, which is just a nice weekend drive from where I am in CT. I understand that it's also a week-long event. I am interested in attending for a day or maybe two, but don't think a week is feasible. So, my questions are: 1) Are "day passes" available, or can you only pay for the week? Or is it by event? 2) Which events/days are the most fun/must-sees? 3) Are any of you going? Have any of you gone? What are your impressions? I'm just collecting info at this point, but interested to hear what you have to say. Thanks in advance.

You pay a registration fee and then individual events.
I personally prefer the driving events over gala events. Do take time to volunteer for something. My kids had fun at the kids' parade. My wife says it is full of old people. Just keeping it real.

I started going when I was 30....19 years later, I still have a blast.
I'm told housing is sold out. Might be able to find something like a B&B or private condo rentals nearby though. Registration, phase 2, opens early April. Tours are usually the first thing to sell out. Autocross and rallies (Gimmick and TSD) don't seem to sell out. My kids, 21, 19 and 16, specifically asked us to get a condo big enough for them. They started going as toddlers and love seeing the different parts of the country. A bunch of folks from my region went to French Lick. They got hooked in one Parade. They're sharing 5 bedroom condos at Jay Peak. No day passes available. I met a couple at the Traverse City Parade who registered for three days because the wife said she wouldn't be able to handle 7 days of Porsche stuff. They went home Tuesday. Said they looked at each after a day home and realized they were having a blast at Parade. So they called the hotel, got a room, and came back on enjoy Parade Thursday-Saturday. Some people love Parade, others don't. I never understood the fascination with trying to hit a little white ball into a hole for two hours...but hey, good luck to those that do.

The registration fee is for the entire week but it is very reasonable. Individual fees apply to some events but you don't have to pay for anything you don't want to do. There are many areas you can not access without being registered. If you just want to look at cars, be there Sunday (concours prep) and Monday (concours judging). TSD is usually Tuesday, AutoX Wednesday-Friday with tours and various other stuff mixed in. I always avoid the banquets (long, boring, stuffy and banquet food in order to sample local eating establishments). I started attending when I was 32, so it is not ALL old people, although at 50 I am lowering the average age!
