Earl Hamner Jr. died.
First- Gary Shandling, now Earl Hamner Jr.
Okay- yes- he is older than Gary- but it sucks none the less. I was reading about Mr. Hamner today before he died. I was reading a story that he bought a motorcycle during the depression- which he could not get to run right- so he took it to the quarry down the street- shot a bullet through the engine block, and tossed it into the quarry. This is a quarry I ride bikes by occasionally. Rick V should know it well. He lived right down the road in Schuyler, Va. I was looking up the link to the theme song: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qpmRcP8S7Bo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Why was I reading about him? This was after reading about the threads on this forum about the videos/etc. Ironically, as ppot threads often do- it sends me on internet searches into obscurity and interest, which I take pride in the fact, that whatever I am searching "is probably not 'trending' ." There is something about 70's music that is amazing. It is all played with real instruments. The Waltons puts me back into a place in time- yes- the 70's- not the 30's, but it was a simpler time none the less. My wife told me tonight. Heck of a coincidence. |
