I saw a unicorn today (CTR)

I stopped by a clients and noticed a RUF covered car, I had to ask if it was one of the new ones (They are a RUF dealer), and no it was an old one :D a CTR!

I asked if I could see it (take the cover off) as I would never see one again. I was told it was sold to a Canadian after having it for a while he sent it back to Germany to be restored, then sent back to Canada. It was sold to a guy in Calgary and RUF called him with a client in Germany wanting to buy it, it was not for sale, but after the call the car is going back to Germany ;)

Germany to Canada to Germany to Canada to Germany - man it get's around better than me.

Sorry for the crappy photos...notice the mirrors and lack of drip rails

Really HOT!

Umm, I wonder how much it sold for.

Car+Atlantic shipping that way and that way etc+BIG incentive to sell.

stealthn 03-31-2016 04:48 PM

Estimate in the $750K CDN range

911boost 03-31-2016 04:48 PM

That gives me

Sometimes I love my job, but I was saying to my client how much fun it would be to work on these cars on a daily basis.... Maybe if oil keeps at this rate I can apprentice there :)

masterpiece

I got lucky enough a number of years ago to have a close encounter with the CTR that started the path down that long slippery slope.

The subsequent chase has left me with much less hair. They are truly beautiful.

Well don't leave us hanging, did you build one, buy one, what?

sand_man 03-31-2016 05:57 PM

The shaved gutters are so cool!

stealthn 03-31-2016 05:58 PM

Interesting visual note, the one I saw today did not have the rear vents off the wheels into the intercoolers, not sure if there was some modded air flow through the wheel wells, but different from the 2 CTR's I have seen before.. Maybe a true unicorn...

Is this the same CTR?

Canadian Redbird: 1989 Ruf CTR #12 | Bring a Trailer

That BaT listing makes it look like a steal.

That's it.

sand_man 04-01-2016 06:40 AM

I seldom gravitate to red cars, but that is stunning!

ckelly78z 04-01-2016 08:44 AM

Man, those cars were built in a wind tunnel, truly, very slippery looking for all out speed assaults on the autobahn.

rs200evo 04-01-2016 09:50 AM

I believe the selling price of the red ctr was well below the above mentioned estimate of 750 k cdn.
