WOW 914/Boxster

Very cool project that I stumbled across today in my travels.
A merging of a 914 and a boxster

It wears a Patrick motorsports wide body

Wow. Impressive amount of work there!
Definitely not simple bolt on/ weekend project.

But why keep the boxster dash? If you are going to go that far- I'd go 914 all the way baybeee....

If I squint it seems to sit a little like a Lotus Elise.

Wow... I'm impressed with the amount of work there, but the end result unfortunately reminds me of a lousy Pontiac Fiero conversion kit:

Very nicely done. A massive amount of work, final result looks great. Enjoy it.

In Ontario too! Even better.

From what the shop owner told me they used this 914 race car body kit when they built it. (Here it is on a 914 race car) :

I question the sanity of this project. Wouldn't just buying a 914/6 be a better option?

the gayness of a boxster with the ugliness of a 914, what could go wrong?

Yanno, somebody with too much time on their hands should put an '81 Fairmont body on a Shelby Mustang GT 500. THAT would be so cool.

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes like stink and handles great, but aesthetically... no thank you.

I have a lot of respect for the fabrication that took place here, but something about the final product looked off to me.

I took a picture of a 914-6:

Flipped it horizontally,

Applied the image of the new car:

Overlayed them so the door lines, roll bar, and window pillar were lined close up as possible (because these were about the only things that didn't change):

It shows how much the car changed when the 914 body was stretched over the boxster chassis. look at the original wheel position vs the new wheel position and the taller body. Also note the much taller rockers on the boxster chassis. This is what happens when you stretch a smaller body over a taller chassis.

Still an impressive amount of fabrication though...

Larger image:

With the original wheels to show how much the frame grew in height. the rockers hit the ground:

The original 914-6 for comparison (in the right direction this time):

I probably should have posted this first- but oh well- time for work. Happy monday!

Leaky, thats a good comparison. Based on that, if it was my car I would at least black out the rockers, or a portion of them for an optical illusion to change the proportions.
