The Canadian teams missing the playoffs is not a statistical fluke. There are numerous issues that leave Canadian teams at a significant disadvantage in recruiting and keeping the best players.

Get used to it, most of the problems can't be fixed by the league.

Having six of seven teams competing in two divisions does have a hand in this.

There is always next year, right?

1990C4S 04-03-2016 07:26 AM

That would be valid if they had more points and were close to a playoff position...

That would be Reggie Lemelin. Ain't no hockey players named Roger. Roger is for golf or figure skating.

Could be Roger,

NO Canadians in Playoffs?, don't care.

I'm a Canadian through and through but my teams are: The Hawks, Pens, and the Ducks. I tried a couple of years ago to root for the Leafs, but that was misery. The leafs are like the Titanic, great till they hit the ice!

But this year, since Gerard "Turk" Gallant is in the post season with a great team, that's who I'll be rooting for. (Panthers) Turk lives just down the street here in Summerside, PEI AND he had a real nice 1990 Black Porsche 964 for quite awhile, so he's number one around here.

That's always been the Leafs fan club motto.

Just like the Habs winning the cup 50's, 60's 70's was due to a significant advantage in recruiting. Them days are gone. :D

BTW, you didn't answer my question:

Turk should be behind the Habs' bench instead of the bouncer they have now.

I dated a girl years ago who had season tickets to the kings when they were still at the forum.
The one thing I learned about hockey is this:

the hockey fans at the forum were extremely well-dressed and polite when compared to basketball fans at the forum.

Not hatin. just pointing out that for decades, the Habs had the pick of litter when it came to up and coming yount talent due to locale. When they had to compete for the better players, they weren't as much of a dynasty.

BTW, STILL WAITING FOR 1990 to answer my question:

It's a hockey thread.

And I needed to post before they missed the playoffs. Down to 54% likelihood now.

Can't beat Carolina?

creaturecat 04-06-2016 09:48 AM

is the word "cheesehead" still used as a synonym for a Canadian?
the Vancouver Canucks, they never fail to disappoint. tickets are now down to twenty dollars and change (Canadian pesos), via the scalper system.

1990C4S 04-06-2016 09:52 AM

Excess demand for tickets is one of the problems, especially in Vancouver and Toronto.

No incentive to improve. If the stands were half full there would be more pressure on management.

I predict Montreal fans will send the correct message first.

Um, OK. Whatever. Seems like a bit of a stretch. Kind of like if I were to ask in this thread of all people from Canada really say "eh?" all the time? Sounded more like an excuse to be a hater.

1990C4S 04-07-2016 06:43 AM

I freely admit I'm a hater (and apparently I'm not alone).

The dirty hits are beneath him. He could be great, being a dick makes him merely good.

Hawkeye's-911T 04-07-2016 09:37 AM

Hey "cat"

You gotta ease up on the Canucks. Afterall, they are only 3 years away from being 3 years away. I'm sticking it to "flat" a little bit here: Caps in the east - Kings in the west - Kings in 6. At least both teams have some "Canadian Content" which ought to comply with the CRTC nazis dicta. Just hoping for some entertaining hockey although if the weather is nice, I'll be having a cold one whilst working on eliminating the contents of the ubiquitous "job jar".

Cheers
JB

I don't think all of us say it eh?
