Who thinks the Caps have a chance? Is the Ovi Post Season Curse coming to pass?

He's not the best player in the playoffs, not even close. He's about the third best Russian. They won't win the cup.

It's not a curse if you don't perform.

World Juniors, NHL playoffs, when it matters he loses. I think he did win one World Championship (consolation prize again).

How about that second goal by the Blues last night? A back pass between the skates out to the slot. Fabulous.

As for Ovi, well if he goes down, again, it won't be for lack of effort on his part. I'd rather watch Cindy lose.

Another one bites the dust....

flatbutt 05-10-2016 08:17 PM

Ovi out...boom.

Hawkeye's-911T 05-11-2016 01:36 PM

I kinda feel a bit sorry for Ovi - CHECK THAT!! - Man! that was a close call!! Crosby seemed to be a bit of a non-factor in the series. Penguins vs. Bolts - should be some vapour trails evident during this series what with both teams favouring a "speed" game. The PVR will be working overtime. Enjoy the games gents.

Cheers
JB

I can't say that I am a Caps fan but I have learned to respect Ovi on and off the ice. Cindy and the Pens: no love there at all! So with that said, it is with a heavy heart that I dust off the annual pic:

In case you haven't been watching:

The Caps fought hard to come back from a 3 goal deficit and it is a shame that they had to lose in OT but the stronger team won. No shadow on Ovi. He played well and was a team player this year.

In other news:
Tonight is game 7 Blues / Stars. Should be a good one. Both teams have had surges and both have taken lumps. As a rule #7 is either a rockem sockem knock down drag out -or- a blowout. It won't take long to figure out which one it will be.

Oh, one more thing: yesterday was a day to remember in the heart of every Bruins fan:

The reason I became a Bruin fan growing up on L.I.

Blowout.

We are being treated to some great hockey!

1990C4S 05-12-2016 09:10 AM

And some great goal tending. And some terrible goal tending.

Hawkeye's-911T 05-12-2016 10:42 AM

^^^^^That's a big 'for sure'

I understand that Cindy was trying out for the Summer Olympics Diving Team.

HA! But then he'd need to be able to raise his arms in protest while treading water.

Curious to note that both game 7's in the western semis were 'laffers' after some intense play in their previous contests (except for the Blues - Stars game 3 blow-out). Things are gonna get real interesting in both conference finals. We don't get to see a lot of Sid out west - so, again, this could be interesting.

Down to the final four. Frankly I have very little interest in any of these teams other than "anyone but the Pens".

I agree 100 percent Joe.

I'm afraid with Bishop hurt Yzerman's Lightening might be in trouble.

I generally LOVE a game 7 regardless of who is playing. In the last two, one team totally forgot to show up. It was evident that Dallas and the Preds either a) had nothing left in the tank, or b) were out coached and the winners had their number (maybe some of both?)

If Bishop's injury is long lasting and he can't play then it will magnify the results. Either the backup will get crushed (snooze-fest and sad to watch) or, he will rise to the occasion and the other team will not be prepared for a different book on how to play him (great hockey and a feel good story). Think 2006 rookie Cam Ward. Playoff history is filled with fourth line superstars and unknowns making a name for themselves (like Tyler Segin for starters).

Like I said earlier, I have no interest in any of these teams other than seeing Cindy losing. As such, I want close games with emotion and physical play. If not, I'll go read a magazine or mow the yard.

I couldn't agree more. I have my team of course but I just plain love this sport.

Man, that baseball is a violent sport!
Jose Bautista should have zigged when he zagged!
Q:
When was the last time you saw a bench clearing brawl in hockey?
A:
Nordiques and Bruins
I bet somehow it was Brad Marchand's fault!
