Is there a 2016 F1 thread?
I had a couple glasses of wine and couldn't find one ;) SmileWavy
If Rosberg can pull out a couple more wins, we're in for some serious drama for the championship. It could get really good! Good to see Kimi back on the box. How about Haas? I don't like to see the end of constructor cars, but they sure seem to have come across a good strategy. I would imagine that if there are teams waiting on the wings to jump in, they're going to emulate Haas. Jeez, Ferrari must be powering half the field now. Poor Vettel. That's gotta really hurt. Looks like the quali format is here to stay. |
Overall a surprisingly lively and exciting race.

Loving 2016 F1. Haas' US operations are just up the road from me. So cool to have a local connection to this season.

Gotta wonder how many of the team members were born in the US of A?;) |
It is just totally cool that the HAAS team and Romain Grosjean is AHEAD of Vettle on points and the team is at this very early stage beating Toro Rosso, Force India, Mclaren and Renault. We all pretty much expected to see them fighting Sauber and Manor for the race to the bottom.

What's with Ham's poor starts? On both these two first races, with him on pole,
commentators have noticed his car angle away from track centre, as if he welcomes the field to help themselves to make a blast down the middle. Which they have done quite nicely. Seems odd. |

older cars used a system of bite point control to limit bogging and/or wheel spin that is gone now so starts are random |

With all the crashes at the start of yesterdays race, I thought we might see Maldonado come barrel rolling through the midfield. I don't miss him much.
He had that one big win though, can't take that from him. |
Good race yesterday, really exciting, too bad for Vettle.
Pre-race did anyone catch the drivers comments on the parade around the track, surprised Hamilton's ego could fit on that truck. And what's with the big gold chain around his neck, looked like an idiot. Let's just hope we can keep up the exciting pace. |
Any French speaking F1 fans?
Found a non-pirate way to watch live F1 races online. But French commentary. PM if you want info. |
Yep, a really fun race. But all is not well, is it, with the urgent dissatisfaction over the current qualifying rules, the FIA's threat to replace that for the next race with a scheme that aggregates quali times from Q1, 2 and 3, and, very worrying, the apparent impending collapse of Sauber, which underscores the inequity in the way in which the teams are paid. It seems that the more the FIA screws with F1, the more it screws it up.
Oh, and then maybe richest of all, is Ecclestone, of all people, complaining that "all the drivers care about is money." |

Ditto on HAAS, and the toro Rosso boys also. |
Interesting start, great mid-field action, happy to see Haas/Grosjean in 5th (ahead of Lotus/Honda!) - happy with the season so far.
I cut the cord and was able to torrent the first GP, worked great. This race could only find a Russian torrent four hours after race finish. Watching in Russian was fine, it's the world feed and the graphics are all in English - in fact it made me concentrate on it a bit more. But I miss the commentary about the back stories, etc. One plus is zero commercial breaks, so much better than the US coverage that always seems to break into commercials just as a driver starts talking. But the inconvenience of having to hunt for a torrent to download will probably push me back to Uverse DVR... |

Add a sailors hat to the gold chain to complete the Picture and he could very well take over after Hugh Hefner.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind! |
