It seems like they made a story out of nothing. I think there is a decent chance the kids were joking, and stupid tweets are more common than not Wouldnt have happened at Purdue though

That's what they get for dressing up in outdated garb. I recall a 2 year old my mother watched seeing the pope on TV. He pointed to him and said "look it - INDIAN"! We were in tears. G

You never know what associations people are going to make. When my kids were young the only videos we let them watch were nature documentaries, most of which seemed to be about chasing lions on the plains of Africa in old fashioned Land Rovers. One day my son and I pulled up behind a beautiful classic Land Rover at a stop light. My son got all excited and started shouting "Look dad! African people!". The opening scene to the movie The Da Vinci Code includes Tom Hanks' character showing pictures of robed figures and asking the audience what they thought the robes meant, only to show the next slide with a wider shot of the same scene, showing what seemed to be a KKK rally was really a religious ceremony.

Strange how when I make blanket statements about "old" people, I get called out as discriminating and hurtful, and receive comments that my ageism is disgusting and that... the hurtful and demeaning stereotype you apply to people of a certain age. I don't know why you would do it, or why you would think it is ok, but the disrespectful and discriminatory attitude you reserve for people who have reached a certain age borders on bigotry. That was from Taz's Master when I was making blanket statements about "old" people. Why does this board have such a double standard??

(If ya can't make fun of yourself... then you are taking life waaayy too seriously...) I just find it quite ironic that a college student does not know the difference between a KKK outfit and what a priest wears. A college student - you know -where they learn and observe things and stuff... That is, IF indeed this was not a joke... -Z

I get that. It's a pretty pathetic situation. I make fun of the younger generation and their use of technology all the time. It can be scary. But on this board the "old" comment on the "young" and everyone clinks glasses. But when the "young" comment on the "old", well, your an ageist and borderline bigot. I think your absolutely right in that everyone needs to lighten up and make fun of themselves a bit more.
