Classic insurance w/o garage ???
I am super happy with Hagerty, but I am also tired of paying $$$ monthly to store 1 of my oldies. Full garage (with other oldies)
I am considering dropping classic coverage on my most modern oldie (a 73 2002) due to the garage requirement and take my chances with regular insurance - doesn't rain that much, I can buy a car cover. My issue is regular insurance is not agreed value. Is there a midway house that provides agreed value coverage, or more realistic value coverage on a semi-classic but does not require garage parking ? I don't need unlimited mileage, just dropping the garage req... Thanks ! ! |

American collectors will waive the garage requirement sometimes...case by case, and they prefer it under roof, but talk to them.
I know State Farm does stated value, I don't believe they require a garage but could be wrong.

Thanks for reminding me of state farm... I used them for my house but as I recall when I asked they wanted ALL my cars or nothing at the time, and I was happier with hagerty then... I'll check with both !

I use Hagerty for classic Insurance without a garage for every car. When requesting the quote they ask, Garage, carport, driveway etc. Never had an issue stating car was not in garage. Call Hagerty. Might be a little higher without a garage, but no where near what normal insurance was.

Hagerty just emailed me back saying they need a garage ! Could be a state by state deal ?
Thank you for contacting Hagerty! In California, we do require that a vehicle is stored in a fully enclosed permanent structure. This can be a home garage, family member's garage, friend's garage, rental storage unit, or commercial storage. We do not offer coverage on a vehicle that is stored in the driveway or outside in the yard or in a public lot. Thank you for your business! If you have further questions or if we may be of additional assistance, please feel free to call our office at (800)922-4050 and any one of our friendly agents will be happy to help you |

I bet it depends on the location, seems many of the stolen car alerts posted on this site are from California, although, I bet there are a bunch more Porsches in CA than any other state.
