Heading out for a test run
My friend with his pilot boat, 40ft, Cummings diesel, pretty nice rig. I got to steer
while he checked a few things. Managed not to hit anything. Always a plus when on the water. Built in Baie Ste Ann, if you were ever into boxing, that's the stompin' grounds of Yvon Durell, One tough SOB. Nearly took the heavyweight title from Archie Moore back in the '50's.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1460396339.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1460396381.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1460396403.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1460396419.jpg |

This little boat, is how he gets to and from those ships who anchor at the outside pilot station where he gets on and off. |

wait a second...
how does he board a cargo ship from that tiny boat? he ties up to a bigass ship?? rope ladder?!! |
Cool. We have pilot boats to get Great Lakes captains to guide ships down the St. Clair River. They deliver mail to the lake freighters as well. YouTube has some cool videos on this.
