They are pretty good, but I find I only get 5-10 years of wear out of them before they tear out in the crotch. I remember the 501s of my youth to be made of sterner stuff. Or maybe it was because my ass was smaller then. No, that can't be it.

wearing tactical pants in public is as douche as it gets... ;)

unless you are a law enforcement agent, fire fighter or armed forces

hahaha, if it makes you feel any better, it was painful to find those first two. I don't recommend anyone doing a google image search search for "gay yoga pants". It's not fun.

several years ago, I spent 2 weeks on the Amazon river in Brazil. Think HOT and MUGGY all of the time. Fortunately, minimal rain (beginning of the dry season).

I bought a pair of ExOfficio pants as well as some REI and Columbia pants. The ExOfficio were the best of the bunch.

Guide pants? I'll stick with my Sans-a-belt slacks thank you very much. They have an inner slimming elastic waist band that makes me look like I have washboard abs.

Tough, roomy clothes with lots of pockets? Perfect for working around the house and farm. Not to be worn in public, any more than an undershirt should be worn in public. BDUs are great for working on cars. Keeps the "where in the hell did I set down that wrench?" factor low. Because it's in a pocket! And that fastener that I'm going to need in ten seconds. And a beer. Or two.

Alright i am not talking about cargo pants. I am talking about tactical wear

Vash, cool pants, I'll keep my eye out for the sale. I have some shorts that sounds similar by Kuhl. Best shorts I've ever owned. And I live in Phx, so I've had more than a few pair over the years.

But, I stay on he frugal side of clothes as much as possible.

However, I'm not afraid to get some nice things on occasion.

I have a pair of The Graduate. Bought them when I performed my first wedding. The couple I was marrying suggested them as the groom was wearing the same. Had mine hemmed as well.

I'm on the right.

Well, BDUs are both. ACUs, too. As work wear, there is a lot to recommend them. As casual wear, not really. In the winter, it is nice to shovel snow in them, because they are large enough you can wear a fairly stout base layer underneath. But because there is air space, they don't get wet with sweat. I agree they aren't for wear in public, any more than my work boots are for wear inside the house. Or using my wife's nice hand towels after I change the oil in my car. (Boy oh boy, do that just once, and you never hear the end of it.)

While my comment about 501's was tongue-in-cheek (& I remember also when the material was much more substantial & they only cost $3.98/pair), I'm one of those people who finds pants & shorts with cargo pockets uncomfortable. Plus I prefer the feel of cotton. Those times past I've tried pants or shorts with cargo pockets, it seemed like there was a lot of extra material flapping around there. Also when I tried to put something in the pockets, the banging around was uncomfortable. Since I don't have a job or need to worry about style, I mostly need pants for getting grubby while working in the dirt, grease, or whatever. For this I bought a pair of Dickey's work pants which are heavy duty cotton fabric and aren't too loose or tight for twenty something dollars. I was pleasantly surprised the fill the bill for me.

I love the Kuiu stuff, my vest and merino from them is awesome. The hunting pants I have from them are great but the non camo ones are too short for me, which was annoying.

I sent you a pm Vash.

How do you not feel like a yoga mom with yoga pants and your flip flops?

I'll go check out the Eddie Bauer ones that Vash mentioned. They leave room for a set of balls in those.
