And I know that he had been dabbling in various forms racing (amateur ranks?), but wasn't he damn near his late 30s (like 36 or 37)when he made his F1 debut? SHEEESH!

Very true. My choice of words was not accurate. What I meant to say, was him entering what would be considered the "premier ranks (F1)" at an older age. Not to take away from the racing he had been involved with up to that point.
