Well this wasn't done today, & I paid to have it done. It was finished on Wednesday. Looking forward to the benefit.

What Did You Do To Your Home Today?
Continued converting a space under the house into a nicer area since we don't have a garage.......still.
Insulation, electrical, first coat of epoxy paint, sealed any openings I could find, and then spent the last couple of days sheet rocking, into it for 12 sheets 5/8" fire board( my gawd that stuff is freaking heavy). Continued on with 26 sheets is 1/2". My floor is thrashed from all the fines but I knew that would happen going into it. I think the early coating will make cleanup a little easier though. I am making progress. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ae63bb85c2.jpg Sealed the concrete with 1-Stage garage epoxy paint. I know it will get abused finishing the room. Topcoat to follow after everything is finished and sealed up. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...b7fc11d5ad.jpg 100 AMP sub panel added under the house. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...64f9aaec23.jpg Big dill of a power supply line feeding the sub panel. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f74090bede.jpg Work in progress http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...76f0419d4e.jpg 5/8" fire code rock being put on the ceiling. Making a mess and looks like Casper been walking around the house http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ef3ddadeac.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d62cf0fe7a.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...80e99432a8.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...52e19d9a2b.jpg The grey lump obviously was disrupted by the work.. What Did You Do To Your Home Today?
Working on our room today. Why is it at the time, extra Sheetrock screws sounds like a good idea? Right up to the point of having to fill all of those little bastards...
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0a47e630fe.jpg Fired the local handyman I hired to give me a hand. His claimed 40 years of rocking proved to be worth "dick". I knew nothing about rocking but enough to know when things were done wrong. Four sheets replaced and numerous incorrect cuts later, I told him to gather his tools and GTFO! Just a few examples: http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a084a61914.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ac1a2a2b3f.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...b98ab73a7f.jpg Not what I'd expect from a veteran rock guy. By the way, it was my fault the mistakes were made, per him. I didn't pay someone to argue with. It reminded me of the Monty Python skit where John Cleese pays to argue. my hot water heater broke. Turned out to be the heater element. Replaced it. Thinking about going tankless, any suggestions?
|
I have two Rinnai tankless water heaters for the house. If your original water heater was electric, you might think about going with gas if you decide to go tankless. The electric ones can draw 160 amps at full tilt. There have been a couple of threads about them.

Moved in the new house last weekend. It's all unpacked and ready to go.
Got comcast and TP holders installed today. |
Cleaned bathrooms and unclog my wife's sink that was slow.
Does that count? |
New block wall. New sod and got slope dialed in with some palms, birds of paradise and other plants.

Look... What does it take to maintain them and install a scale filter? I don't recall that anyone around here does either.

Yeah that counts! You should get an award for doing that. Just sayin since God only knows what that crud is that comes out of the drain. Only speaking from experience from our drain at home. Textured with my new Home Depot texture gun, now waiting for it to dry. Not too difficult to do. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...3af0551289.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...520010d044.jpg Close-up of the finish I was able to give the walls. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...90e5edd893.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...feb397b56a.jpg Sent via Jedi mind trick |
Planted seven small pines trees yesterday. I won't get much done today with mid 90 temps.
|
Finally installed my $100 Craigslist split AC unit.
Ice cold in my bedroom now. Lot's of work, and not cheap to pay someone to evacuate the lines and top up the charge, but still half price.... |
Drank a Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter on my deck while looking at the river. Couldn't get my ass motivated to do ****.

Need these valves installed but not code around here as inspectors can care less if you maintain them. These valves allow the cleaning solution to circulate the heater and block out fresh water from entering. Cleaning solution is usually vinegar or CLR. Mfgs seems to like CLR and claims they do a really good job. I use a sump pump and just recirculate CLR for 30 minutes flushing all hard water deposit from within the burner. Disconnect and turn valve to allow fresh water into the unit. Run it so it flushes out the little solution in the system. basically turn on hot water and allow it to run for 1-2 min. Takagi recommends the igniter to be sanded with 100 grit sand paper to rid the carbon deposit. BSsically cleaning an old sparkplug. Heater Treater is the scale filter. It will remove most scale before it has a chance to enter the unit. You can feel the difference on the hot water side. That water is not so harsh, just don't get burn trying. It is installed on the cold water supple right before it enters the unit. |
Wish I was at the point where I could start painting the new drywall. Most of it is up and out of what is, most of it has the first coat of drywall mud. I really hate doing drywall...
