I had many officers and NCO's who served in Vietnam guide me in my brief military career. It had only been 3 years since the war was over. We were Combat Engineers. Some were good, some okay and some had that "1,000 yard stare". Bless them all, war sucks.

I arrived in Nam 10-31-69, left 12-4-70. Extended for an early out. 19 when I got there, 20 when I left. I had to wait almost 4 months to turn 21 after I got home. Combat Infantry...what I did and saw has affected my entire life...

Thanks to all who served. I was a child and thought it would never end, it had been going as long as I'd been watching TV. The guy who is like my older brother was there same time as flyenby, same age. Brutal war, but I suppose they all are.

Vietnam has deeply affected many members of my family as well as refugee friends.
A terrible time. Peace to you and yours...
