AWD standard tranny car suggestions.

I'm pretty sure the answer is WRX. But thought I'd pick the collective brains of PPOT.

If I want awd, stick shift, 2-4 year old, $25k budget, room for two kids and two adults, what are my choices..... ?

Assume non of the above must haves are negotiable. I think we are done right?

Wrx Base model. They are flying off the lots. No deals but you can try. Maybe CPO.

Of the top of my head and excluding compact SUV's a Subie is the only thing that comes to mind.

Ive owned 3 wrxs since 2002 when they came out. I love the cars and think you have the most compelling car with your requirments.

However, even as a long time used car buyer, I think I would go for new in this category. THese cars have an odd combination of low depreciation and high likely hood of abuse.

you can meet your 2-4 yo and 25k requirements but be ensure you get an adult owned one

not in a stick I dont think.

I've been considering the new route with a WRX. Second hand values are strong. As is the residual value on a lease.

+1= tough to find one that a bro hasn't touched.
Get it checked at dealer - compression and originality of tune. They can tell if it had a tune before, even if the stock returned.

what about some outside the box thinking?

hear me out. a Subaru Forester with some STI suspension bits installed. i see them here and as i understand it, the parts are cheap and easy to bolt on. no personal experience because my wife will not let me molest her forester.

i think they look cool done up.

I drive an old 2000 Legacy GT Limited on snowy days. It won't ever die, no matter how bad I neglect it. And it's kinda fun to drive for a 2.5L. For it's year it's amazing loaded with options.

Let me know if she ever sell it. I love those things as a daily driver. Quick for an auto, handles well, and they seat a little taller so its easy to see in and out of traffic. I want to buy one for my dad. I want an adult owned one.

I drove the stock turbo charged one first gen (?). I was in love with the say it drove, the size, and view out the window.
