Parking lot A holes
Went to Costco to return a vacuum. Parked by no one, in one stall by a planter. Came out to find a shopping cart jammed in front of the car. F... people.

It's always been my opinion that you can gauge the character of a society based solely on how fastidious they are in stowing away their shopping carts when finished with them.
I'm completely serious. In my analytical thinking....our society consists greatly of a bunch of lazy cretins. It's so true.....

Clear case of missing the A-hole to Lazy ratio.
Parking by the planter only intrigues them. Next time you need to park out further. My general rule is that most A-holes are lazy. They want to mess with your nice car, but they dont want to walk/park more than X spaces away from their destination to do this. Your defense is to park X+10% (rounded up to the nearest whole parking space) away.

I agree. Am I driving a car? Back of the parking lot I go. Unless you have a handicap, then you take the first spot and try not feel guilty taking the spots from the quad/para guys...

Indeed, people ain't no good! A coupla months ago, came out of the grocery store to the site of my 993 rear center reflector smashed to bits. Had the sour smell of a vandal, in that there wasn't any other damage to the decklid or bumper...sorta like some kid wanted to see what it'd be like to smash it! Ordered another one, and it came broken (thanks Mr. Rough-stuff UPS). Got the first broken one taped up with that el cheapo taillight repair tape while I sort it out. Just as soon as I replace it, I just know someone will come along and bust it up!

I park way the hell out in BFE when I take the little cars anywhere. People hate on the big truck too, but the truck does not care.

Costco spots are so wide too. Your car couldn't have taken up half the width. Hate when that happens. It's not as bad but I get people throwing their garbage in the targa

Yep! I agree "our society consists greatly of a bunch of lazy cretins."
"They want to mess with your nice car, but they dont want to walk/park more than X spaces away from their destination to do this." Be sure to park up slope as well in the Costco parking lot. I have witness carts rolling into park cars thanks to the lazy shopper who can't/won't roll it over the cart corral. People are pitiful lot these days when tragedy strikes and they have to run for their life to save their fat a** many are not going make it. |

You think that's bad, just take a look at the roadsides in this country. Trash and garbage everywhere. I live in the country and I pick up all kinds of mc'd wrappers, beer cans, whiskey bottles almost every week. We are a country of lazy, inconsiderate, uncaring slobs. Too many people. Time to cull the herd......

I can't think of a time when I left a cart used by me, unattended in the parking lot. It only takes 30 seconds to put it in the corral, or return it to the store.
I always used to joke that my pretty black shiny, paint must be magnetic, because it always weemed to attract carts. |

I have a race car/beater for running into town. It's a supercharged Miata, and it currently looks like it needs the dust washed off of it.
There is a footprint on the dust over the rear bumper. Goes like stink. |

You can't take anything nice and park it in a public parking lot without risking some minor damage.
Most car owners don't care about their own car's appearance and could care less about your car's appearance. Costco, the post office, any mall parking lot will always be high risk for damage. When they put a small scratch or dent in your car they don't understand how expensive it is to repair. My rant... My 70 Z28 was at my trusted local garage for service. The shop owner was moving cars in the shop and parked mine right in front of his shop for 10 minutes. He saw a plumber in a van start to back out so he ran out and told the plumber he would guide him back. As the van backed up the spotter yelled and slapped the side of van trying to get it to stop. The plumber kept rolling back and put a 10 inch scrape in the door of my 30 year old single stage paint. Classic line... the Plumber hits my car, then he jumps out of his van with a cell phone still against his ear. "sorry I was on the phone" What? ![]() Glad I was not there... When you hit my car I am not happy. When you hit my car when I was spotting for you I'm going to be very disappointed. Your "Sorry" means nothing when you hit my car with a spotter while you take a phone call. Typical distracted driver on the phone can't even pay attention long enough to back up 10 feet safely while someone is trying help him. No doubt he would of hit and run if no one was there to witness it. Just an example of the incredible incompetence of typical drivers! How can it be any more obvious, with a spotter and still he backed up into a bright yellow car. At least his insurance covered the $2100 repair. ![]() ![]() |

My wife works at the port inside a secure area. Only longshores and management are allowed past the guard gate. Yet one day someone tied their boot up on the front bumper and then twisted the boot on the bumper to make a nice swirl. On the other car they just kicked the front fender in. I parked my nice truck way off to the side of the HD last year only to come around the side of the building (out by the nursery) to find someone had used my truck as a backstop or prop for building materials.
Many here have called me an old curmudgeon when I used to post a lot. Gee, I wonder why. I came here today just to give a quick look and saw that Wayne's 914 has been stolen. Yeah, people suck big time in the big city and I'm not getting any more pleased about it. I hope the 914 story has a good ending. I'll tell my wife to keep her eyes open and to pass the word. You never know. |

We've earned the right to be curmudgeons...simply by breathing long enough, we've seen enough to become one.
I finally found automotive freedom...the key is to have a car cheap enough to not really care. And if the Mustang gets stolen? Easily replaced after insurance pays off. Hell, it's just a Ford... Ironically, I've been parking it in the lot (security camera) behind the pool hall on a weekly basis. Nary a scratch or door ding in nearly 7 years. How'd I keep the old 911S so perfect for over 3 decades? Didn't drive it often and when out and about, it always had somebody watching it... Ridiculous, but it worked.

"this is God's way of telling you to ditch the accordion bumpers." I did laugh a little when I was thinking the same thing.
Trying to shrug it off and just fix the area and move on. I am torn between driving 'daily' or anywhere and the car being a garage queen. It's enough of a queen around here with the rain and bad traffic, now that the weathers nice and work parking is secure, I do intend to keep taking it out as much as possible. Just to make it clear, this wasn't a case of an errant shopping cart getting away, this was an intentional act of vandalism. I had done all the right things as far as defensively parking without looking like a posting for a holes that take up too many parking spaces. After 24hrs the good news is that I didn't actually catch the sh-thead in the act, it probably would have ended badly for both of us. Off to the paint supplier. Be careful out there ya all. |

You just cannot take anything nice out in public and leave it alone, not even for a few minutes. Someone WILL find it and do something idiotic.
The only power most people have is to annoy and irritate other people. That's why they do this.
