Advice on how to deal w teenage, young adults azzholes?

A friend or old client, retired naval officer, is having some work done to his commercial building. I am not doing the job, thank goodness its 3 hours away. He called this morning to ask for advice on how to deal with the situation. I know he wouldn't take siht from some punk kids.

Long driveway and parking area is dug out and other work is performed to the building. This is about 1/4-1/2 mile from a local high school. Kids have set up a ramp with plywood doing jumps with their bikes. If they break something, he's screwed someone will lawyer up for sure. No one needs that. His contractor, and his men has chased them out constantly both during working hours and after they are gone. He's been there giving these kids crap about staying off his property. Cops were called but nothing is done or can be done. Kids run off and come back cussing out people there. Walking by looking for people so they can flip the bird to who ever will pay attention. He's caught one and threw him off the bike and that kids was sihting bricks, but the rest ganged up on him so he let it go. He talk with the school but its out of their hands and no proof. We both understand this.

One day, he discovered all windows were broken on one side of the building. WTF do you do? He can beat their asses although I like to go up and help him do just that, but if they are minors, he's fooked. They may not be minors, but its hard to tell as their head is always covered up with a hoodie. He ask me what I would do if this happened to my job. I had no answer. Its never happened to me, thank goodness I never has to deal with it. I normally have an answer, but I am lost beside calling the cops. Fcuking smart ass kids. We were all kids once, but this is just crap. I would never break someone's window.

Game cams or some other recording devices.. Then perhaps a visit to the local LEO office?

Perhaps a call to his councilman/mayor? It's this a bldg that will bring jobs to the area?

Fence in the area he wants to keep the kids out of... that will probably be needed eventually anyway. Add a coupla vicious dogs. Also add cameras.

Already have a typical construction fence around the building. They have to keep the gate open during construction for equip and such in and out of the place. I mentioned cameras,. His reply was "what are they really going to do about it? A bunch of kids riding their bikes on the property. They aren't going to ID them and go and arrest them at their homes."

Oh forgot to tell you that the cops that showed said there isn't too much they can do about it only if they see them, they will have a heart to heart talk with the kids.

He's gonna have to hire private security, then. Probably only for awhile... certain hours before and after school (and perhaps until dark). If some of the kids live in the area, the area may need security until midnight or longer.

But I'd almost bet that after awhile, the kids will get tired of going up there and getting run off.

How long is the driveway and is the bldg. visible from the street/road? Are they setting the ramp up on the driveway or up near the bldg.?

If the area around the bldg. (only) can be fenced with the contruction fence and dogs put in there, he might have 99% of the vandalism problem handled.

Another idea is to have someone get close enough to the kids to get cellphone photos or good video. Take those photos/videos to the police, who can then take them to the school to get the kids ID'd.

Don't know, but I do know the driveways are on both side of the building and that leads to a parking lot in the back. He dug it out to get to some plumbing issues and deal with the trees that have picked up the concrete. Kids are coming at all different hours of the day. Construction crew can't keep up with chasing them out. They have to perform their duties.

I never thought of having dogs there, but they may harm the dogs. I will mention that to him. Can dogs be rented just for that purpose? From that I hear, all concrete has been dug up and its all dirt with trenches dug for new plumbing and other things. Will that be harmful for the dogs?

This has been going on for two weeks. He's pissed. Hardest part is dealing with punks kids. They understand what's right and wrong and yet they don't understand.

Still waiting for David.

From what he described to me, they may be late teens or early 20 something punks. I don't think they are that small.

Or set up some better ramps and charge admittance...commercialization ruins everything!

Or better yet, start a youth bike jumping league! Get adult coaches, uniforms, dues, hold clinics and camps, give out ribbons and medals to all those that participate. That's a sure fire way to mess it up to the point of no recovery!!!

The construction crew should not be having to deal with this. Private security.

I don't know... that's a question for the private security firm. They'd probably rather put a guy in a car in the driveway, telling them to stay away and calling the police the moment he sees them next time they return. Taking photos, too.

Don't know. Possibly.

There are ways to make them understand, I'm sure of that; most likely through them being ID'd by the school and police... and getting to them through their parents. Police might even be able to confiscate their bikes.

If not a minor, time to have a party on the premises and see if the kids trespass. Then...

His exact words were " adult size kids". Just hearing about it, I like to get my hands on one and punch his mouth out until he has no more teeth. Those kids can get under your skin.
