Review: The New Harley-Davidson Roadster
Review: The New Harley-Davidson Roadster | Bike EXIF
~~~~~~~~~ Its sits higher and straighter than any other Sportster, with inverted forks and dual front discs. It’s not your old man’s Sporty. I asked Harley’s people: Why did you create the Roadster? Paul James , head of product planning, said: “The brand can stretch in ways we haven’t tried yet.” The inference was clear: There’s a larger audience out there, and Harley wants to speak to them. ~~~~~~ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1462421576.jpg |
At 571 pounds, it's about 120 pounds overweight for a roadster, at least. Just another styling exercise for the Sportster. If someone sent me out of buy a brand new all-rounder tomorrow, pretty much my first pick would be a Ducati Scrambler, with a Triumph Street Twin as runner-up.
Almost ^^^
The inverted forks are really cool. However after they switched to hydro clutches. I'm not really sold on it. "I have harley service tech friends that share horror stories of the hydro clutch set up". |
Yea, it's not speaking to me either. When the image first appeard on my screen, it harkened back to the dark days of AMF ownership in the 70s......that's a hard image to shake.
Trying to make a silk purse from a sows ear.
Going to take more than a styling exercise with the competition they have from Italy, Japan and Germany. |
I like the looks of it, but like EP pointed out, it is way too heavy!
LOL @ all these whiners...Harley seems to have turned a healthy profit for the past 5 years without your help.
None of you naysayers would buy one even if HD made exactly what you were looking for. |
I once had a Sportster way back when I lived in the UK and I loved it's grunt but hated the vibes. I always wanted one of these but the weight just annoys me. Its a shame they cannot get the weight down as weight on a sportster serves no purposehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1462468855.jpg
I would like one of the new roadsters painted orange like the XR750 or that street model above,
|
Why is this being presented as something new? They already did a Sporty roadster back in the 2000s.
My riding abilities have improved over the years. My abilities exceeded what my Harley was capable of way back when I rode a 1973 AMF model....4 times parts falling off either locked up a wheel or got wedged between the front fender and frame where I couldn't steer; crossing into head-on traffic....The stories I could tell. |
